Phoenix Fire Bird

That 'mean Jean' dark-eyes look is fine for the general stuff like dismantling that cure gun; we need a firebird only for the massive destructive stuff...
yea, I wasn't referring to you :)

I agree.

But no firebird at all- no halo, no bursts of light, nothing, just ZombieFace- thats terrible.

Yes... maybe for the Xavier psi-battle if it didn't ruin having it at the end...

They MUST be saving this for the general release, they MUST...

I agree and hope we're right. They're either saving it or it's simply not finished yet!

Well, yes, a hint of fire or a shimmer/aura would be okay, nothing big till the climax.

But not just the zombie look We don't want X3 to be The Woods Have Eyes....!!!

Ok, The Black Eye Vamp Look vs. The Phoenix Force Look - here's my take:

personally, I like the Phoenix Flames, that's my preference - but even aside from that, the reason why we should get the Phoenix Force look instead of the Black-eyed Zombie is the following:

1) Continuity - we saw it in X2, we should see it in X3

2) The concept of the Phoenix is a strong part of Jean's character in this storyline - the Phoenix represents regeneration: from firey death to a rise from the ashes - it's an important element to understanding how/why Jean comes back to life.

I'm sure Jean will have the firebird around her in the climax. When she starts tearing about the island, BAM!! Phoenix bird appears.

But I love the black zombie face look in the Phoenix/Next Stage in Evolution scene.

What I don't like about that scene is the incredible fake looking effects for the gun.

Her powers are evolving and her mind is in a much darker place. Maybe that's why they gave her the dark special effects.

In X2, I thought that her flames where emerging because she was finally reborn. Her powers were finally free, and they turn dark...

Maybe they wanted to follow just the part 'risen from the ashes' thing and it tuned to dust... LOL

Now serious, it's cool the way it is, very dark, but as you said, flames are her trademark, part of her personality in that shape. Even after the Dark Phoenix give up living and Jean took control, Jean controled the fire from that point further...

Hmmm, that's a good point...though part of what I liked (and this is getting into my more personal preference here) about Jean-as-Phoenix was the ambiguity of her powers: Phoenix was neither good nor evil - more like raw and untamed energy and power. That's why she could look equally beautiful and menacing when she was all powered-up. ;)

I really dont care about the Vamp look as long as they have the Firebird/Halo effect somewhere. Otherwise it reeks of cheapness, and kills the whole concept. Phoenix = rebirth, glory, life incarnate. Her corruption is because of power.

Black Vamp only= dumb, and obviously cheap.

Will the art be sacrificated by some cheap resolution? Can't say, but won't bet.

In the junior novel, Professor Xavier is teaching ethnics. In his lesson, he states that "Power, no matter how well intentioned its wielder, corrupts"

Jean Grey is not an evil woman. Yet, due to Magneto's manipulation, Jean's mind has been corrupted with ideas of betrayal, anger, supremacy, and murder. When she joins with Magneto, she kills her fiance and her life long mentor, along with innocent civillians on teh Golden Gate Bridge. I believer her powers and the way they are displayed should relay the message that while her powers are a gift, they have been corrupted and are now being used to do evil, terrible things.

That was the scariest scene in Star Wars...

I swear I pooped my pants...lol

Ok, maybe a little bit.

lol.... See... Jean/Phoenix and Anakin/Vader are my fave good/bad characters... both have a lot of similarities...

Jean :- Zombie look (cool but not phoenix)

Phoenix bird :- PERFECTION (with zombie look is ok)

It is not so hard to understand! :ghost:

My fingers and toes are crossed and my hopes are high

Don't let my down, show me the FIRE!!! :) :p

honestly the screenwriters said its the most expensive effect in the whole movie and its the thing everyone will be talking about after the movie!dark willow don't look that expensive !

I think there may STILL be hope that the Phoenix effect is still being tweaked and WILL be shown when the movie is released.

... We actually hear the Phoenix SCREAM

GAH its stuck in my mind...its taking control... -bangs head- ow.. .no that won't work... gah...

Plus what exactly are these pink flames around her?their colour is very different from the fires all around in the background..

But there are no pink flames around her

OMG. The Phoenix SCREAMS in UR FREAKING MIND!

sorry...for the caps...but... HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!! -cries-

now...we probably still won't see the firebird effect... but the sound... makes up for it... i mean the Scream... The Phoenix Scream is terrifying...but at the same time... its....so beautiful. -wipes his eyes-

Come on people, in the Dark Phoenix Saga Jean looked like a demon too. Her eyes went really white and she had a crazy hair. I think now that she's being tortured by her own mind, she'd have to have a more evil look like the Dark Phoenix of the comic books had, but instead of the crazy hair and the white eyes they gave her black eyes and crazy veins. I'm still confident that we'll see the firebird when she's just Phoenix and not Dark Phoenix, like when she rises up from the lake and when she snaps out of her psychotic state of mind.
