That's not anime. That's very much American animation.

In fact, the original Transformers cartoon resembled anime much more than that.

Indeed and if I remember correclty the same animation studio also did Dungeons and Dragons which had some very anime moments.

Basically what people do when they see any form of stylised animation they don't like is they go "EUURRRGHHH ANIME".

The real truth is however, that most of the cartoons they grew up with in the 80's are as anime as they come.

I agree with this, a lot of the animators were brought over from Japan to america to animate some toons. Inspector Gadget anyone?

Exactly...although I am not entirely sure how you could think the new Transformers toon is anime.

Yup...or the storyboards would be sent over to Japan (and in some cases Korea) for animation. I noticed many Korean names in the Season 4 credits to Transformers.

that's the thing that puzzles me tho. we have better technology, there are more animators than EVER, and everything is becoming cheaper by the day...there's just no excuse for the uber simplified look. even the G1 TFs had more detail on them than those monstrosities.

God?!? and the transformations are Tazmanian-Devil-style-mini-tornado-bursts? The "flames" were nothing!! One of the big draws of Transformers are the transformations themselves, 'tis too sad

These designs make me appreciate Bay's even more.

Why don't american studios do something like Transformers Energon or Cybetron themselves?

Give us some badass CGI Transformer designs, and for the the environment and humans you could still use that Teen Titans designs if you wish. I wonder if we'll ever get something as great as Beast Wars again.

I have some self-made dvd-covers and stuff I REALLY wanna show you guys... Only problem is that I've made them in something as normal as word!!! How the hell do I save the image as a whole which I've created in word, and convert it into a JPG-file, which I can post in photobucket and thereby show off to you guys!??
