That's how I feel . If your going to bash something I like I'm willing to listen if it's insightful or entertaining.

If he said the movie sucked (cant watch it here), then he's right, and not full of ****.

He was a bit more elaborate than that. He also doesn't even enjoy Depp's character in any of the films.

Yes but...it was just so bland...

Look at all the scenes from the first movie...

Compare them to this one. There's a huge difference.

There's a video of the final battle somewhere on YouTube...find it, and compare it with the final battle in Curse....

Which one is more interesting?

Curse is by far...both have the revenge angle going on...yet Curse gives a satisfying end.

Tides just....slice...and that's it. Awesome. Where's the tension? Where's the style?

I do agree that the novelty has worn off on this franchise. I liked this film, but if they're going to make a fifth one, they need to freshen it up to make it last.

I think they just need to make it...fun and stylized. I dont need giant malestrom battles, or kraken monsters....

I can deal with a good old fasion sword fight, as long as the stakes are high.

Fair enough. I do agree Marshall's direction should have been spiced up more.

I loved the movie, but Marshall is no Gore Verbinski in any way.

What Pirate legends that haven't made it into these films would you guys like to see?

Everything! :D

What about(not sure if he counts as part of Pirate lore but) Long John Silver?

Captain Morgan...although I don't think he was too evil.

So I finally saw the movie yesterday. I don't have much to say.
It's fun and entertaining, which is good, the story is straightforward and I like the new cast members. The inclusion of Blackbeard was interesting, but I felt like he just wasn't menacing enough. Depp makes this series and for this he still deliver a great performance as Jack, sadly Rush didn't appear that much together with Depp for this but when they do they have a fantastic chemistry, same goes for when he's together with McNally (Gibbs).

Action sequences are not Marshall's forte but he manage to make the opening chase sequence and the mermaid scene entertaning, but overall most action scenes doesn't have the liveliness as some of those that Verbinski shot. So if they do another I'd prefer him not returning. I didn't like the sub-plot with Philip and Syrena, it's underdeveloped and not to mention somewhat forced, after Will and Elizabeth, was it really necassary to put another love subplot?
Overall, it's an improvement over the last one and a good addition to the series.

3/5

Bart Roberts seems like an obvious choice. Or Jack Rackham, Anne Bonny & Mary Read.

I think they should make up a new pirate. Someone truely evil. Someone who just kills people for looking at him funny. Someone who rips a man's heart out, and shoves it down his throat.

I want an evil, nasty, villian

So I saw it last night, and thought it was pretty good, 8/10 for me. But can someone explain, what exactly happened
to the missionary? I know the mermaid took him caus ehe was injured, but what exactly happened? Was it to die so he could be with God, or something else?

I want some more mythical Pirate lore as well. Sirens, the Bermuda Triangle, Jolly Roger, Sea Serpent, and heck...I want to see some sharks eat some people!

Here are a ton of pirate lore valuables:
Pirata Codex
Journal of the Ancient Seas
Chest of Cortés
Aztec Moonstone
Shadow Gold
Skull of Teoxuacata
Heart of Zerzura
Dragon Tile
Dragon's Eye
Cloak of Caladonis
Timekeeper
Sword of Cortés
Trident of Poseidon
St. Piran's Blade
Buccaneer's Heart
Sword of El Patron
Sword of Triton
Silver Tongue
Pelegostos necklace
Pelegostos dagger
Sun-and-stars amulet
Deep Sea Opal

Apperently, the Sword of Triton was what Blackbeard had.....but since they didnt explain it, it was not.

This movie could have done alot better of a job but I still loved it. Barbossa was awesome as always, I liked all the new characters except the preacher but he was tolerable. I get what some are saying about it not feeling the same as the first but I do think that it was good enough to merit a sequel no doubt about it. And now, we can get back to the REAL meat of this entire franchise, the rivalry between Jack and Barbossa. Plus I liked Angelica enough for her to come back, loved how Jack left her at the end. Also loved how Barbossa knew to take the sword and then ended up with TQAR and Jack back with the Pearl. I would like to see another one though, especially with how it was left with Jack and Barbossa.

Also I LOVE that list of Pirate lore! Definitely some awesome storytelling elements in there! I think with a better director and the correct writers we could really get an amazing follow up to this film as long as they keep it in one movie and don't try to bring Blackbeard back in any way
