Animation Pixar's Elio (June 20, 2025)

We're going to be seeing a lot more Toy Story, Cars, Incredibles, Finding Nemo and Inside Out sequels than we originally thought.

I want to see

A Bug's Life 2: A Bug's Death
The Good Dinosaur 2: The Bad Dinosaur

:)

Sequels are so 2010s.

Live-action remakes, baby!
Are we all ready for Finding Nemo with the actors' faces superimposed on the fish?

I've gotta say, I was bracing myself for that one if it's true. Ratatouille is one of the most beloved Pixar movies and if they're making a Coco 2 there's no way this would have been safe.

Even though I've enjoyed most of the Pixar sequels and count Toy Story 2 and 3 as some of their best films in general, it's really a shame that it's come to this.

Honestly, with the popularity of something like “The Bear”, I could sort of see them doing a commentary on workplace culture and trying to do what you love but getting burnt out and going into panic attacks from being overworked and trying to please everyone, and find out that everything is not always sunshine and rainbows all of the time.

The first movie was about discovering that you’re good at something that you love, being true to yourself and finding the joy in it. That seems like the next logical step to take with a sequel. I mean, it worked for Inside Out 2 and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

I am wondering, if the market place starting to embrace a variety of animation styles, is what is holding Disney/Pixar back with originals. People will show up for the sequels, but not so much for what at least looks like the same old same old. I don't doubt that they are making improvements to their tech. But we are at the PS4-PS5 level jumps, where the GA doesn't quite care. They need to start having individual styles.

Yeah, suddenly feeling a lot less bad about this failure. This is a failure of Disney's own making. They are killing Pixar. I don't see how any creative will work there.
DreamWorks will gain from this. I wish Sony would but I believe they shuffled their creatives.

I'm sure some random animator will stick around long enough for Disney and Pixar to announce Toy Story 8. Then that'll be their chance to direct the Toy Story of all time.

We will see how Goat does, but I am thinking that Sony is maybe regretting releasing Kpop Demon Hunters on Netflix.

Media reports have cited its production budget as $150 million, but former Pixar employees tell THR that the film cost far more than that. The artist who worked on the movie was not privy to the specific figure but estimates it was well north of $200 million, given that Molina’s version was nearly complete, which she says makes the “catastrophic box office” feel worse.

Yeah the movie ended up being really good despite everything behind the scenes. I’m not shocked though they’ve been moving this way. Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney officially gives Elsa a male love interest to put an end to the lesbian speculation.

So even though this was a flop, there's a viral meme of the post credits scene for this which apparently isn't even anything having to do with Elio but a sneak peek of Hoppers.
