Pixar's Inside Out

The joke "who made you the mayor of imagination land?" made me laugh way too hard, probably because I've heard it a good few times growing up.

Great film.

Those were just fool-hardy causes with no real critical heat.

Mad Max is a different beast. Mad Max has genuine critical support. I think it will actually do very well in the year critics polls and stuff, many Top 10 mentions.

I also think it will get a truckload of nominations in the tech categories. And it is even perhaps a play for Best Director which will help its Best Picture chances.

Both Winter Soldier and Edge of Tomorrow got considerable critical acclaim and ended up on a lot of year end lists. They had a lot of critical heat, I dont know why you would think they didnt. They arent as well liked as MM but still are very well liked in critics circles.

And going by your logic Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, The Dark Knight, Nightcrawler, Short Term 12, The Avengers, and Selma were shoe ins to be nominated...look what happened with them. All had a lot of critical support, all ended up year end lists, and a lot of them were in them were in the convo for best picture. None got nominated.

I'll gladly eat my words but i dont see Fury Road getting anything other than tech awards. I dont even see WB campaigning that hard to get it nominated. But then again maybe this will be a slow Oscar year.

I have no dog in this fight, but I will say I personally didn't like Edge of Tomorrow. CA:TWS is one of my favorite Marvel films. Fury Road is one of my favorite films of all time.

In any case, took the family to see inside out and I really enjoyed it. My kids absolutely loved it. They were engaged as much as Jurassic world, surprisingly. One thing that kind of bugged me, the Dad looked like Ryan Reynolds....

8/10

ok...

IT's not about what you or me liked or didnt like. I liked Mad Max a lot, but I think expecting it to get a BP nod is just silly.

Bringing it back to Inside OUt. I can see this getting a nod. I know this, along wiht Mad MAx, will be some of my favorite movies this year.

I agree with you. Movies like Fury Road won't even get a sniff for BP. Still though, I could care less. I just watched Whiplash and yes it was a really good film with great performances, but Fury Road does to it what Furiuosa does to Immortan Joe's face, IMO. The performances in Fury Road were just as good. I'll NEVER watch Whiplash again and wont ever have the desire to.

Different strokes. Whiplash was a great movie that I can watch again and again. In terms of dramas, I think Whiplash is a great example of the movies I would want to/am glad to see nominated

IT's not liek Theory of Everything, which to me was boring and I would never watch it agaiin

Put a gray flattop on JK Simmons in Whiplash and he's just the rated R version of J Jonah Jameson. You can't deny it would still work in the concept of the movie...

Saw this tonight and was so pleased to see Pixar back to form, creating memorable, imaginative and exciting movies. I also have never seen my girlfriend cry in a movie until tonight. That [BLACKOUT]Take her to the moon line[/BLACKOUT] absolute rocked her. Right in the feels.

What did you guys think of 'Lava'? I pretty much gave the blank stare throughout the entire short, visuals were beautiful though.

I adored every second of it. I saw Inside Out a second time, and it was partially because of that short.

My wife and I went to see it yesterday. Texted my brother on the way out, and he was walking in to see it with his wife and daughter. All five of us loved it.

Pixar did what they do best: A fun romp mixed with mature themes and soul-crushing emotions. I definitely look forward to seeing it again down the road.

Also loved Lava and bought the song from iTunes when I got home.

Lava started off a little weird at first and people were chuckling, but later on as it started to sink in.

Terry pretty much hit the nail on the head

That's exactly how I viewed it

Lava was cute. The line "someone to lava" was eye-rolling and kept pulling me out of it though.

EW have an article about how Inside Out now has the biggest opening of any original film (not sequel or remake) of all time.

Welcome back, Pixar

Saw this with the family the other day and absolutely loved it. Laughed, cried, the audience clapped at the end and I was ready to sit right back down and watch it again once it had ended.

Lava was basically made for everybody that's in a relationship more or less.

yeah Lava was cute, leave it to Pixar to get you to care about a giant rock, completely depress the s**t out of everyone, and still create a happy ending within like 5 minutes

and Inside out was fantastic
all I can say is....
Bing Bong.
Oh the feels.

Yeah, there were a few kids asking out loud "what happened to him?" and you could just hear the parents struggling to come up with something positive.

yeah I could hear a chorus of whimpering start up all around me in the theater

my girlfriend included, lol

I purchased it on iTunes. :atp:

Wait a minute, you guys...are there even tinier emotions inside the emotions' heads?

I'm gonna try to see it tomorrow morning.
