The Avengers Planet Hulk in Phase 3?

Why did no one trust or believe me a month ago?

I actually think a majority of the folks who read your post believed you.

Speaking for myself, your post was the primary reason why I believed the PH/WWH scoop to be (in all probability) BS.

That, and I couldn't believe that this was an alleged 'journalist' acting like a third tier WWF jobber. Yuck.

All of those exclusives were reported by Da7e at LR, who has proven himself quite consistently to be a reputable source. El Mayimbe, less so. But I think it's silly to write off the whole site's credibility - when they've continually provided more accurate Marvel scoops than anyone - because one obnoxious guy there has a hit-and-miss track record.
I, personally, think it IS fair to write off LR. The fact that El Mayimbe continues to write on LR is implicit acceptance of his behavior. LR, after all, is a news site (with what I'm assuming is a very lax editorial process) and not a fan site.

Whedon on Hulk movie again.

Man, for a property and movie of which there are currently "no plans," it seems folks just can't stop talking about the prospect and possibility of a "Hulk" film and what exactly it should be. While rumors have been flying about about a possible "Planet Hulk" and "World War Hulk" based movie, current Marvel godfather Joss Whedon has called them nonsense and as he reveals in a longer statement today, getting Bruce Banner right on the big screen is a challenge.

"I didn’t actually read 'World War Hulk' so I’m not sure how I’d adapt it," he told Deadline about those recent rumors. And after stating how much he and Mark Ruffalo loved delving into the character for "The Avengers," Whedon gets to the heart of the matter when it comes to bringing the green giant up on the big screen.

"The Hulk is the most difficult Marvel property because it’s always about balance. Is he a monster? Is he a hero? Are you going to root for a protagonist who spends all his time trying to stop the reason you came to the movie from happening?" he said, adding: "I don’t think there would be any problem getting a movie together that had enough Banner, even if there was also Hulk. But if he was only Hulk for the entire movie I think Mark at some point would go, why am I here? I would be less inclined to pursue a storyline where the Hulk is only ever the Hulk."

As he notes, it's delicate balance to get right, keep fans satisfied as well given the character some real weight. And while Ang Lee and Louis Leterrier both gave it a shot with "Hulk" and "The Incredible Hulk," Whedon doesn't think they found the formula. "It’s always a dance. I don’t think the first two movies nailed it, but I don’t envy them the task," he opined.

Thanks for all of that - I actually didn't know about this stuff!
No problem! :)

I didn't say it wasn't fair, I said I thought it was silly. Pretty much everything Da7e has reported has come true. That truth isn't undone because of anything El Mayimbe's said. You're welcome to write the whole lot of them off of course, but I personally choose to believe the scoops from the scoopers who prove themselves, and Da7e at LR has done that constantly over the years.

LR isn't one of the trades, so they shouldn't be compared to them. They are comparable to AICN, Slashfilm, Collider, etc. And they've gotten more legitimate scoops on these films over the last few years than all of those sites combined. So as I said, I simply find the notion of completely writing them off because of one bad egg to be silly, when they are otherwise continuing to deliver perfectly solid intel. But of course that's up to each reader to make up his or her own mind about.

That is not the case. In the written article, before the video, he states that he got the information from within the Marvel Offices.

"I followed that poodle’s scent back to it’s territory from which it came. It lead to Marvel’s offices here in New York City." - Original Article.

He followed the trail back to the Marvel Offices in Manhattan. He is saying that while digging for a scoop -- where he found it -- was in those offices in Manhattan.

And I told you it was a lie a month ago.

What more vindication do I need?

I believe you Robin91939.

But to play devil's advocate, maybe they added some film/TV offices after you left ;) .

I would love to see a Planet Hulk live-action film, I just don't think it's going to happen.

Lol. They did have toy marketing stuff for animated shows (Wolverine and the X-men and a few other shows) at the time.

Dream job. Wish I could be back.

Latino Review's stuff keeps changing anyway. First its Momoa as Drax. Then Batista. Then MOMOA IS DEFINITELY CONFIRMED. Uh oh, Tweet deleted. And now it's Batista is going to Marvel again, ARE THEY GOING TO OFFER HIM DRAX?!

Agreed, to an extent. Da7e and most of the LR staff has done (and continues to do) some good work but the site must bear some level of accountability for El Mayimbe's behavior.

I'm not even overly concerned that his scoops didn't/don't pan out to be true. Well, if he simply pulled stuff out of his ass, well, that's another story, but I digress...

I'm not at all averse to specualtion and editorializing... even from journalists/reporters, especially considering the fact that entertainment news, by definition, is entertainment. 'Tis fun.

My primary objection/problem is that they continue to provide a platform for him to showcase his absurd and bizarre antics.

I agree that's a problem, but a lot of those sites have writers/editors who I find obnoxious or don't take seriously. So it just isn't a significant enough problem for me to write off all of their other scoops, when they continue to prove accurate. But as I said, that's up to each reader to make up his or her own mind about. They are not an official news site or a trade, so they aren't under any journalistic obligation to live up to any particular ethical or integrity standard. They post the gossip and things they've heard about the movies we care about, and we judge these reports for ourselves. It just so happens that most of the things they hear (when it's not from Mayimbe) turn out to be true, which is why they've become so prominent in the geek community. As long as they continue to post these accurate scoops, El Mayimbe will be an annoyance I'll have no problem overlooking. It's fine if others can't, but his presence doesn't put the credibility of the other writers on the site in question for me.

Agreed. We have consensus. Now why can't all debates end like this? :) Just caught up on the SHIELD show thread in the Marvel Films section, and... *shudder*

It's always a nice thing when debates go this pleasantly. :yay:
