Evil dead. these flicks just suck. I don't know why they're popular besides bruce campbell's charm.
You disappoint me. How is Evil Dead considered "popular" if it has a cult following?

What I said wasn't about everybody so if you have nothing to be guilty of in that group I mentioned, you shouldn't be responding back in a defensive manner. As far as the bandwagon being the mainstream audience, yeah it used to be the only one. Now days it still is, but so is the internet movie geek group. I've met enough people and been in enough arguments with other film geeks/nerds(im not saying im not a film geek so don't jump on me for using those terms) that couldn't come up with valid excuses why they didn't like something to where I smelt the Bull****. I knew it was because of that geek elitist attitude, that the general movie goers are dumb and have bad taste in film. So in my experience I've noticed another bandwagon of people that don't like things the "dumb" general public are into. I'm not saying you, let alone all film geeks like myself are like that just a good number of them are. You'll usually find it's the ones that can't give real reasons other than "I just didn't like it" or "just because" and nothing detailed or intelligent. I also understand some movies are hyped beyond belief to where it ruins the movies for some as well.

I wasn't singling you out, Figman. And I do consider myself a film geek by any standard. I'm the last one to talk, though, because I have such random tastes in movies. Guilty pleasures should be had by all. There are several movies in my collection that I know for a fact aren't great movies by most standards, including my own. But for some reason they are not only allowed, but viewed many times over, simply because they carry an odd amount of random checks from what it is I like to see and hear.

Jesus, just look at my user name-it's from a movie most would be repulsed by. The first time I saw Ichi the Killer I absolutely HATED it. I thought there was no redeeming value to it whatsoever. I caught it on Sundance a couple of times here and there seeing various scenes again...and it slowly began to grow on me. It became apparent that the movie's sole purpose was to simply to provide spectacle-the blackest of the black comedies. Once I accepted that it was like watching the movie for the first time. I was also able to piece together what I once thought were wide-open plotholes in the film. That's why I like to give certain movies a second chane too, as Carmine Falcone has stated.

I love plenty of good films...but Freddy vs. Jason is not one of them. Next thing you'll tell me is that I need to be nice to Jason X...and then you'd be speaking crazy.

...

I still can't believe you wrote down "Freddy vs. Jason" and "fantastic film" in the same sentence. I'm more afraid of what your tastes are like.

I'm not a Kurt Russel fan. I loved the effects used, but found the film boring. I kinda watched it with high expectations. Which I think a lot of people here had when they say these so called popular movies everyone loves.
