The Dark Knight Possible Title Change?

I wouldn't mind them putting Batman back in the title at all. I mean, the first is called Batman Begins, the second The Dark Knight, what do you call the third? Keeping Batman in the title at least creates some sense of a naming scheme. They're gonna have a hell of a time naming the third movie. I haven't heard a single suggestion that I didn't utterly hate. I'd hate for them to end up calling it The Caped Crusader, followed by the fourth movie: The World's Greatest Detective.

You have a point here - the only title that would work theamatically for a third film is the Dark Knight Returns and that's just not happening.

I'd still like it to be TDK though. If anything, as Christian Bale said, it sets the franchise apart in a way.

keep it as TDK and put Batman in the poster ... people should be able to figure it out on their own

well . . . The Dark Knight Returns has a lot of problems as a title, just because the 3rd film will be pretty likely to take place directly after this one . . . so IMO they should pry just go w/ The Dark Knight II . . . it just makes sense . . .

In interviews they've stated that it is "The Dark Knight" and seemed pretty firm about it. I'd wait for something more official than this

Damn, I really wish they stick with TDK. It's really a unique title cause it separates itself from the other Bat films but obviously ties in with Begins as its the sequel. And to elaborate on what Crooklyn was saying, aren't Batman and the Dark Knight the same people? Therefore isn't this calling the film Batman:Batman in a way? :oldrazz:

I'm...seriously tempted to make jokes about false advertising concerning your last example but I completely agree. It's...clumsy. The Dark Knight flows better.

I'm guessing it's the WB concerned about their precious advertising again - "ppl might not know it's Batman! OH NOES! *flail*"

The guy in the Batman costume is not, you know, a huge fricken clue or anything.

Never underestimate just how thick people can be. Remember all those who were adamant that Batman Begins was a prequel to Batman89?

People ARE STUPID. I don't like the title change, if indeed it is a change, but i can see why WB would do such a thing.

I agree 100%. I remember seeing Begins with my friends and we all walked out thinking it was an awesome movie, then I say, "I can't wait for them to make another one, since they showed the Joker card." And my friends were like "Dude there's already been a Joker one, this just showed what happens before it." "I was like WTF is wrong with you guys!!!!!!!!!!! :wow: Did you not see that this is a new franchise?" I didn't even bother trying to explain the reasons why it couldn't possibly be a prequel, I.E. the Bat signal. Anyways, you do have a point about people and how unaware they are.

"Shadow of the Bat"

Its better if Its Batman: The Dark Knight.

Honestly us fans would love it being just TDK, but the average moviegoer might go to the cinema and see "The Dark Knight" advertised and have no idea its a batman movie, ok you have to be pretty stupid not to realise but you see my point.

You are absolutely right. People here will think how stupid can one be to not know TDK is Batman but it will happen. WB doesn't want to lose any potential business, therefore I could see there being a chance of Batman being stuck in the title. If it's not, then I would be impressed with WB.

I always liked:

BATMAN BEGINS (Ra's Al Ghul, Scarecrow)
BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT (The Joker, Scarecrow)
BATMAN: DARK JUSTICE (Two-face, Cobblepot, Catwoman)

That's the titles and villains I've always favored....that's what you could call the third one, and adding BATMAN to the title is very smart, marketing wise.
We know we'll always call it "Dark Knight" or "The Dark Knight" so in the words of Frank Costello, "what's the difference?".

Basically the whole Gordon, Batman, and Dent alliance to stop The Joker. Like I said, the Sal Maroni part was just me feeding off the rumours at the time.

It's also kinda funny how even though I stated that this "synopsis" was my work, people are acting like "oh god, I hope it's real". Well, it's not. Anything written by some bloak named "General Vulcun" will never be confirmed as real by WB or any other site/magazine/newspaper/etc.

Why the hell would you write it then?

Nothing personal, but that's exactly what I loathe about sites like IMDB. It's unsubstantiated information passed off as fact. And this is the result.

How about youdon't make up your own plot summaries for movies you haven't even read the script for and are in no way affiliated with?

Until an official synopsis is released by Warner Brothers, I don't think anyone desperately needs one bad enough for a random fan to step in and whip up some B.S. No information is better than false information.

Now that I think about it, it probably doesn't matter, as yes, WB needs to draw in fans by calling it Batman, but as someone said, we'll always call it TDK. I still feel its kinda weird calling it "Batman:Batman" (TDK is Batman) lol :oldrazz:

The third batman movie should be called Batman: END GAME

She's probably referring to other comic book movies.

The same Nolan used tons of characters from the comics that... looked, acted, sounded and were totally different from the original ones. Same sh**.

I just can't follow whatever was meant by that message.

I think we can all agree that Burton, Nolan and Schumacher all took debatable liberties with existing characters. however more or less they did so, or how acceptable these changes were/will be is pure opinion :batty:
