The Dark Knight Possible Title Change?

For BF, wasn't there just a Batsignal with FOREVER emblazoned across it in a lot of the posters? I don't think, one way or the other, people are gonna see the title 'The Dark Knight' and think it's the new Martin Lawrence time-travel comedy (and, yes, I know that was Black Knight, before anyone says).

Potatos...tomatos...it doesn't matter.

The Maroni confirmation is nice though.

I bet they will use Batman:The Dark Knight in press, media, magazines etc as a tool to let people know exactly what it is, but then the actualy film will be called The Dark Knight?

End of the day it's not gonna kill us if they put Batman in the title. TDK was just more original and poignant.

Maroni has not been confirmed.

General Vulcun said:
LOL! OMG! I am SO sorry to all you people who believe that Maroni is officially in the movie. Why am I sorry? Well...that's my plot summary.

When I was still a user on IMDB, I wrote and submitted a plot summary that was worded exactly like that, and IMDB put it up. At the time, Maroni was a fresh rumour from BOF, so taking those rumours into consideration, I created the plot summary that appears in that article. Word for word, it is the one I wrote for IMDB and submitted over a year ago.

Once again, I'm very sorry about this, and I really DO hope Maroni is in this movie.

Maroni has not been confirmed.

I edited the first post. Thanks for heads up on that.

BTW, at no point did I ever say the title had definitely changed. I opened a thread to discuss it. That's it. FWIW, I don't think it has changed. :)

No prob! :word: Didn't want a string of comments from people thinking that Maroni was actually confirmed because of General Vulcun! :cmad::oldrazz:

LOL! I still think Maroni's fairly likely to appear but that's just my opinion. ;)

I dunno......title change to having Batman in the front isn't that big a change.

When I go to watch it at the movies, The Dark Knight won't even be in the title when I ask for the tickets. It'll just say Batman 2.

I kinda look at this how all the James Bond films always have the 007 logo right infront of the title just to remind people, along with the music and the cliche "Bond Is Back" tagline, that this is James Bond.

Title got changed? So what? It still sounds effective.

Maroni is in? That's great, Ray Liotta would be perfect choice.

Joker is serial killer? Finally something from such thrillers as Se7en and SOL will be add to Bat-film's story.

i think it's just for clarification. barely anyone outside the fanbase would know that Batman is called The Dark Knight by the Gothamites.

You may wanna go back and read the entire first post again.

I agree, the Maroni bit is great, as someone said, get Pacino on the phone!!!!! :woot:

Cmon lets be realistic hear... Pacino is long done with these sort of roles... Ray Liotti deserves another shot... but how are we sure Maroni is in when we don't know if thins thing is true?

TDK appears in the latest issue of Production Weekly and is listed as Batman: the Dark Knight. Apparently the first time it has been so.

Here is the entry:

Possibly the title has changed?

Huge thanks to the sharp-eyed fabman for pointing this out. ;)

EDIT: The synopsis has been debunked, people. This thread is just to discuss the possibility of whether the title has changed or not. ;)

I don't care if Nolan & co add "Batman" front of TDK but I think it's just "The Dark Knight"

Maroni has not been confirmed.

I gotto agree... please people stop talking like Moroni is in the film and stop making threads about casting till he is confirmed... the last thing we need is for people to get their heads up and then have it dashed when we find out he wasn't in... look no further at the Mccadams rumor... so please... Maroni ain't in until LR or WB says he is....

This crap is in no way official or correct. I can't believe people thought the title has changed because of this. Thats The Hype for ya.

They have nothing to talk about. So, we just make **** up. It entertains us.

Well WB seems shaky lately so them adding Batman in it wouldn't surprise me.

You know maybe you're right about reading the first post again but, I hope he's right about the Joker...I want something real and different about the Joker. 1. To see all the you fanboys piss your pants and whine for years about TDK. 2. Well because we've already seen the Joker you all want to see in B'89. & 3. I want a Joker that can kick ass without goons and take on Batman to a degree hand to hand.

I suspect the title is a mistake. Batman: The Dark Knight is redundant and stupid.

I'm sure they're just listing it like that in production listings and for casting calls so people know what the hell it is. It's still The Dark Knight.

It's not gonna happen. Nolan told me so

It isn't up to Nolan. If WB wants Batman in the title then it will be. I can understand why they would want it to in the business since because they want people to know it is a Batman movie and get asses in seats.

The notion that adding "Batman:" to this title would somehow put more butts in seats is a bit absurd IMO. The Dark Knight is a well-known nickname for Batman. I realise its not UNIVERSALLY known among the general public, I mean its not as famous as the Caped Crusader(unfortunately, because TDK is a much better nickname). Still though, the marketing for this film will make sure everyone and their momma knows what it is. When the first posters turn up in theatre lobbies with a Bat symbol and "The Dark Knight" on them, you don't think people will know what it is?

I think Shoemeister is right on the money. In this case "Batman:" was tacked on so when they're casting and crewing the film people will know its a Batman film, as theres no marketing involved in those areas which would indicate what its about, like there would be for the release of the film itself.
