Power Girl gets her very own ongoing series

I kind of hate the way Amanda Conner draws Powergirl but aside from that, neat!

...Come to think of it I don't really like the way Palmiotti writes her, either. But eh, at least they're giving her something.

I might actually pick this up.

Likewise and I'm a HUGE Conner fan

Yeah, I really didn't like the Powertrip Mini's art style either. Too cartoony.

I think overall my view of this is that I personally won't enjoy it at all, but a lot of other people probably will for a number of reasons I can totally appreciate, so I'm happy to see them given the opportunity to do so.

I'm pretty excited to hear this actually. I enjoy reading about her in JSA and PG is my girlfriends favorite female character.
I'm really really really hoping they don't try and downplay PG's ummm *Physical* appearance?
She's got big boobs, deal with it. She's got a hole in her shirt and highriding pants. Again, deal with it. Don't give me some crappy redesign on the costume to try and conform to pressures. Revel in the character guys, or go write something else.

All that being said, isn't there already a S.T.A.R. labs in DC? Because in the interview there I read them saying she would be using her "Starrlabs" and blah blah blah. Going to cause confusion much? And also, where did Karen get the money to start this corporation? And how is it that she happens to know how to run a software company?
Just wondering...

Karen's been good with software for a long time.

Power Girl might be the only character in the DCU that I just never get excited about at all. She's cool to have on teams and whatnot, but I just don't really care about her as a solo character.

Oh no, I have no doubts that she IS good, I just don't know HOW she got good? As poorly constructed as that sentence is, I think it carries what I'm trying to ask. Where did she pick up the skills? And get the funding?

And yeah, not every hero is for everyone. I personally don't care for the Punisher or for Wolverine, but everyone else seems to love 'em.

I'm with fifthfiend though. I'm not probably gonna get a super-big kick out of this book, but I know how excited I'd be if I finally got Legends of the Dark Knight and Shadow of the Bat back instead of BatCon and these mindless Batminis they keep doing, so I'm happy for all the people who finally get their Power Girl book.

Not that I'm complaining but why does Power Girl have such huge knockers?

I'm going to not buy this comic so hard that someone else's copy burns up before they get a chance to buy it him- or herself.

I don't kind of nothing, I absolutely hate with the power of a million exploding suns how Amanda Conner draws any female, especially Power Girl.

Although I love Conner's art, I'll probably pass.

I'll pick this up in the hopes of it being non-serious fun. I dug Palmiotti & Gray's Daughter of the Dragon miniseries. Decent action scenes, cheesecake, an ensemble of strange supporting characters. It was a mini that didn't take itself seriously. If they bring that same spirit to Power Girl, then it should be an okay book with the occasional funny page or two.

I'm looking up Amanda Conner's art on comicartcommunity.com, and she does't come off as terrible.

It was actually an unspoken dare between a bunch of artists to keep making her boobs bigger until the censors yelled at someone. That's why they are so big, not that I'm complaining.:woot:

I'll buy it... but because I love seeing an independent strong woman in action, it has nothing to do with her chest size... really.

This would be the number 1 selling comic if Ed Benes was the artist. I will look into this,it's a fan's wish come true.

I bet they got Conner so they can go, "But it's a female artist! We can't be exploiting women if a woman is drawing it!"

That said, I love Conner's art. I won't be reading this, though.

So you'll just look at the pretty pictures? :D

I thought it was because Jimmy Palmiotti was Conner's *****.:o
