I don't know about the rest of you guys , but I thought Predators kicked ass. Stans was my favorite character. I laughed when he told Edwin he wants to do cocaine and rape fine ass *****es if they get back to Earth.

It has the same problem as The Expendables for me. All of the scenes are done right, but none of them lasted long enough to allow us to digest what the scene was intended for in the first place. There was a scene where Brody and Takratov where exchanging gunfire with the Predators and I was excited for a shootout but it just ended before it got any momentum going. Same as the final fight.

There's too much self-awareness in Predators to the point where I thought it was somewhat distracting. I mean, it's not a bad movie but I think Predator 2 is a stronger movie. Predators felt like it was riding on the coat tails of the original a little too much. Plus, I thought the Predator make-up/prosthetic effects looked rushed.

While I didnt think this was the case for The Expendables, I do agree about the Predators, all the scene's seemed to end just as they were getting going, and that was a little dissapointing, still enjoyed it though.

That's how I feel. It was too reverential of the original with too many call backs. I liked the cast (cept maybe Fishburne), and I liked the Alien planet idea, but the rest felt forced sometimes.
I think the biggest thing is looking back at Predator done right...it's when it is a single, unstoppable Predator as opposed to a group of them. Even AVP-R, for all it's flaws, at least had an interesting Pred. Something about it being one Pred makes it a tougher, scarier creature. I think had they made that one change, this movie would have felt MUCH more like proper Predator.

It's definitely better than either AVP, but personally I think I might like P2 just a little bit more. Either way, it's a decent enough edition to the franchise. I hope we get more.

I would have to watch it a few more times, but I personally thought Predators was slightly better than P2, neither are bad movies, but for me, at the moment at least, P2 is the worst of the sole Predator movies.

I dont remember having an opinion about the makeup or prosthetic effects but I totally agree with everything else. I was actually a little irritated that they rolled credits with the Little Richard song. It was just too much like the original. A few nods are nice this was too much.

I think the makeup looked good and the predators needed an extreme overhall in the looks department. I liked the idea of two predator races hunting each other and I wish that would have played out more like maybe have the classic predator hutning royce and at the same time have these 3 super predators come in and thrown everything into chaos. I did feel they went overboard with trying to pay homage to the original to the point where some people thought it was a frame by frame remake. I think the overboard homage stuff could have been fixed with simply when the chick tells royce she knows about the predator and the events of the first movie. I think it would have been great if she was the daughter of the chick from the original and she was told everything from her mother because she was there when arnold was debriefed. I kinda rolled my eyes when brody showed up covered in mud to fight at the end because it just screamed of the arnold fight. I also thought it was redundant when both predators got there heads cut off at the end.

couldnt agree more, thank god the fight was awesome because if it hadnt been then everyone would crapped on that scene for trying to be a rip off.

I picked up the DVD a couple of days ago and watched Predators again last night. It feels a bit rushed and like some people said it goes a little overboard with the homages but I really enjoyed it.

I think I like Predator 2 slightly more because of some of the newer elements it introduced as far as setting, weapons, etc but I like the ensemble of characters in this one more. They fit the archetypes from the first movie but add little things that make the group of characters stand out on their own too. The fact that they're individual solders, mercs, and criminals that were thrown together instead of a an official unit added an interesting group conflict. The Dog sequence is really fun to watch.

I really liked the design work. The return of the classic Predator look was more than welcome. I hated the suits they used in AVP. To bulky and thick bodied.
I like both Predator 2 and Predators. I certainly think Predators is better than either AVP movie even though I didn't even hate those as much as some people I know.

It feels like its the first part of a bigger two part story and I hope they make a sequel.

I think they tried too hard to pay tribute to the first Predator with certain mannerisms and certain lines each character used that seemed to be similar from the original. Its like they took certain lines and gave it to every character to make them seem wise and all knowing,though I guess each guy had certain expertise in certain styles of warfare.

Also, the whole trap thing with the dead US Force guy and the russian doin the exact samething as Billy by telling everyone about what went down

Overall, I did like the basic premise of the movie and the 'two' different Predators. I wish they would of done more with that situation imo as it could of been interesting if they saved the smaller Pred' and they teamed up to take on the 'Berserker' Pred's....

^^^I dont see why not. It already made over 126 mill on a reported 40 mill budget. Home video sales can only help

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I think Predator 2 has more charm and originality than Predators.

I've come to appreciate the setting of Predator 2 more over the years. i know Arnold wasn't happy they took it out of the jungle but I think that could have been a bit to much of a retreat to do a jungle based story right after the first movie. I like P2's idea of the "urban jungle" and urban violence raising the Predators interest.

Of course, to me anyway, that makes the return to a jungle environment in Predators much more interesting and special. Itd been 20 years since P2 so the jungle setting was a fresher take once again.

I find both movies have their merits.

Watched Predators last night. Thought it sucked. I could ***** about how unoriginal it was and how it brought nothing new to the table, I could ***** about how flat the characters and story were. But this film's biggest crime is that is was boring. As hell. And for an action movie, that's an unforgivable offense.
