Prometheus - Part 3

Having seen the trailers for all three, Prometheus' is the only one that didn't disappoint me. Honestly G.I. Joe Retaliation is a higher priority for me than Hobbit and TDKR based on trailer quality.

I loved The Hobbit trailer. The part where Gandalf introduces all the Dwarves is awesome.

But yea i'm meh on Avengers and TDKR. Avengers trailer looked... cheap. The cinematography just looked really dull and tv show-esque. TDKR well, I think most people know my feelings on Nolan's "Batman" movies.

I liked the bit where Gandalf and co started singing, but before that, not so much.

People was stupid then, and people is still stupid now. :cwink: :oldrazz:

No, people don't like to be tricked. And they were.

When you have a trailer saying the next film will be on earth...and it's not...and they kill off the people they loved, people get ****ing pissed.

I love that they killed them off. But i'm not so high on my horse that I don't understand why people hated it.

Holy ****. That is actual false advertising! And the tag line is horrible lol

I know right? That whole movie was a cluster****. Fincher has every right to loath that film.

But I love it. And I always will. :D

And please...stop trying to change the discussion. It really bugs me. We're talking about Alien 3. That's the topic at the moment. And we will discuss it until either A: We're done. or B: News shows up.

Huge pet peeve of mine. Let the discussion be.

My bad.

It is. I reported you. You probably won't last long....

YES! SCREW YOU DARK KNIGHT RISES! Screw you, and your inaudible Bane!

Prometheus is better then you! :awesome:

eh, I watched the trailer recently, and, I just got the sense it was gonna be one of those underwhelming 'epics', y'know, they join all the dots, build all the sets, movie is nice to look at, but just lacks....something.
someone might say in a fit of rage, 'Oh, Ridley Scott is better than 'X' filmaker!! with the requisite predictable :o smiley, but they either sound like they are just really mad, or have no bearings on the reality of the situation at all.
I can't recall the last time he impressed me at all, and when you have folk banging onabout how great he is all the time, it gets grating, even he himself knows when another filmaker is better than him, even though he likes to try and hide it. :awesome:

eh, you don't know what love is. This new alien movie is going to suck big time, and I'm looking forward to the inevitable disapointment from all the people who are acting like Ridley Scott only made the first one just a few years ago.
Gladiator was boring as f... Hannibal's first half was good , second half not so...Matchstick Men could have been made by any number of directors...what is the big deal about him these days.
it's gonna be a big disapointment, first thing i thought after watching the trailer.

hmmm, well, considering that the theatrical did not get much of a positive reception, i am skeptical the director's cut improved it *that* much in those critics minds. But, if you really liked the theatrical cut in the first place, then I could see it. If I see a cut-price dvd of it, i might buy it, as they almost never show director's cuts on tv.

Na, the theatrical cut isn't that good. Fox tried to make it into a Gladiator esque action movie, cutting out about 45 minutes of character development in the process.

As for Scott? You don't just lose your talent as a film maker. He didn't wake up one day and just lose his "mojo". He's made some bad films, like every director. But sci fi is where he is at his best. And he has real passion about this story, he's being going on about the "space jockey" since the first Alien came out.

Oh and Black Hawk Down isn't a bad film either.

The DC of Kingdom of Heaven is excellent. I haven't even seen the theatrical, and never intend to. Watching the DC, imagining things cut out, would definitely make the narrative suffer. But the correct version is fantastic. Bloom is about the only flaw (who isn't bad, but you could have cast someone better) in an otherwise great film.

Yea, the thing with Bloom is, he's good in the quieter moments. Like really good, especially the scenes with Norton and Green.

But his "rallying" speech at the end is kinda laughable. He just doesn't have that presence i don't think.

Bum's acting like a little weirdo lately. I never had a problem with him, but he seems to want to keep picking fights with me, or getting me riled up.

It's like he wants to be a troll. Well, good on you I guess man.

so is there any other 'great' Ridley Scott movies that he's made in the past two and a half decades? That in any way justify this excitement? It just feels like there's gonna be a big letdown after all this hype.

That wasn't bad actually, though I do think it could have been done better by someone else. dude love mentioned Eric Bana which would have been awesome.

I missed Kevin McKidd though. After the ship crash scene he disappeared. He probably died, but it was so abrupt and he never showed up after that. It looked lik ehe was going to journey with him for a certain amount of time.
