Prometheus - Part 5

Seriously your going to pay to see a film that has been hacked to aquire a rating when the rest of the market gets the full film? Why not just wait for the uncut bluray in the Fall rather than tell Fox and the MPAA this nonsense is OK.

This news hasn't been confirmed so I see no sense in getting worked up over it. I plan on being in theaters opening day, regardless.

If that happens, the MPAA will be hearing angry letters for sure. We have become soft.

We might be in sovereign debt-based meltdown, but at least in Europe we can watch graphic alien rape at our leisure.

If this is true, I may flip my ****.

Well, I hope some people won't be tools and will not stand for this. I see some have already demonstrated it isn't ok. We need more.

It's not ok but I'm still watching it in theaters. I'll be seeing the other 17+ cut as well though. :ninja:

I really, really, really hate the MPAA.

Same. Besides, as I said before, this news hasn't been confirmed. No sense in panicking over a rumor.

I'm referring to anyone who thinks this is ok. Not you specifically. This kind of stuff is not ok. I pay to see these films and I expect the full product.

Yes I could see it now and watch the uncut version on bluray, but I have no interest in an incomplete neutered film. Anyone who wants to pay for that well its up to them and I have no personal distaste for anyone who does so, but it is telling the studio and MPAA that this is ok and we will rollover and be tools.

I agree that it's bogus to release two different cuts of a movie because a studio wants more profits, but a couple of fans boycotting a film probably won't have much of an impact. Again, this is just a rumor at this point.

Your right that it probably won't do much by not going to see it. But I'm not boycotting the film to hold my breath like an upset child as i know it may seem. For me its about getting what I want for my money. I want the full film and not the bastardized version the US is getting. I'm an adult and I should be able to decide if the complete R cut is appropriate for me. The MPAA or studio will not tell me I have to spend my money on this incomplete version. I can wait til Fall or even Winter to see the full version.

I hope the US gets the full cut in theaters and this does turn out to be a false rumor, but knowing Fox's track record I'm thinking the rumor is true.

It's the American rating system you should have beef with, not Fox. I can kinda understand their decision, if it is true. The film is an investment on their part, they want to make as much money as they can.

As fans it pisses us off, but it's a business. But i'm in the UK anyway so... :D

UH OH!!!

ScriptFlags is reporting that European markets will get the R rated version of the movie and the US will get the PG-13 rated version of the movie. They also report the difference in run-time (17 minutes) is related to the rating, meaning American audiences will NOT get the full intense experience as intended.

I love how they ignore the rest of the world in this :whatever:. I wonder which version i'm getting if i dont live in the USA or Europe... i hope it's the R rated one :D

According to Viscal on the Prometheus Forum, he/she quoted someone who posted this (someone who understood French and got it from a French article):

In the French Press conference, he said he now found the perfect pace, it's tight but that's how he wanted it to be. In his mind 1h59 min was enough (without credits).

So, basically, 119 minutes is pretty much what he wanted it to be. It's only two minutes longer than the original A L I E N, so that makes sense.

I think everyone is overreacting a bit.
