'Theres a definite connecting vein [to Alien]. You realize youre part of something else, but its definitely in keeping with the old ones
When I read it, I was like, "Well, okay, another Alien. Where do you go with this idea?" And then I sort of read the script, and its new, yet its in keeping with the old traditions as well. But theres a whole new revelation within this film.'
Michael Fassbender, MTV interview, 2011.
'[I'm a fan of] Alien and Aliens, both of them, and Blade Runner, which I recently watched again. Im really looking forward to stepping into a Ridley sci-fi world. And the script is really intelligent and has a nice pace to it. Plus, if Im honest with you, I sort of approach my work as a fan. Im a massive movie fan and I like to go on an adventure ride as much as I like to see something that has a bit of social commentary to it. [Prometheus is] a different story, but its also got the traditional roots. Alien fans will recognize things in it. Its not ignoring Alien, theres still a link to that world. But its a different story. Its definitely connected, though.'
Michael Fassbender, Entertainment Weekly, 2011.
'It's amazing. Jesus. I mean, I'm pinching myself on a regular basis, really. I couldn't have asked for a better position to be in. Ridley Scott is obviously a super-smart guy, and a great filmmaker. And it's a really, really good script. I was really surprised by the originality of it, and yet it still holds a lot of what the original films - the story, rather; there's still a very strong link to that. But then it's a totally fresh outlook, as well. So, yeah, I'm really excited about it. It's a very intelligent script. I've got about a week between this film and that, so I've got to get my **** together.'

'You wont be disappointed. I remember when they said they were going to do another Alien, I just thought, "Where can you go with that?" Then they sent the script I kept wondering, "When is this going to get bad?" and it never did.'
