Prometheus - Part 3

There's also the fact that this has a truly stellar cast. None of these guys are lightweights, and they wouldn't have approached the material if they didn't genuinely believe in it.
arent paychecks in blockbuster movies very high?

Well Fassbender originally wasn't going to be involved because he wasn't gonna get payed enough. He then took a pay cut to be in the movie. A few top class actresses auditioned for Rapace's part, like Carey Mulligan, Portman, Hathaway.

I don't think an actors motive for joining a Ridley Scott movie is money.

it is both IMO. both money and story.

Well yea that's what i mean. Obviously they gotta get paid, but with a movie like this, it's about being involved with something special i'd imagine.

Scott has had hits and misses ( more hits thank god...) so i don't think that it's a case of choosing the director. However Scott returning to SCI-FI and making a "prequel" to aliens. Yeah , i think everyone would want to have a role in this movie.

Jonah Hex was a paycheck movie for Fassbender :funny:

Cast and crew involved in Prometheus have sounded very enthusiastic about it when they talk about it. Plus Alien is on alot of peoples favourite movie list so the chance to be involved with something like that would be tempting to alot of actors.

'There’s a definite connecting vein [to Alien]. You realize you’re part of something else, but it’s definitely in keeping with the old ones … When I read it, I was like, "Well, okay, another Alien. Where do you go with this idea?" And then I sort of read the script, and it’s new, yet it’s in keeping with the old traditions as well. But there’s a whole new revelation within this film.'
Michael Fassbender, MTV interview, 2011.

'[I'm a fan of] Alien and Aliens, both of them, and Blade Runner, which I recently watched again. I’m really looking forward to stepping into a Ridley sci-fi world. And the script is really intelligent and has a nice pace to it. Plus, if I’m honest with you, I sort of approach my work as a fan. I’m a massive movie fan and I like to go on an adventure ride as much as I like to see something that has a bit of social commentary to it. [Prometheus is] a different story, but it’s also got the traditional roots. Alien fans will recognize things in it. It’s not ignoring Alien, there’s still a link to that world. But it’s a different story. It’s definitely connected, though.'

Michael Fassbender, Entertainment Weekly, 2011.

'It's amazing. Jesus. I mean, I'm pinching myself on a regular basis, really. I couldn't have asked for a better position to be in. Ridley Scott is obviously a super-smart guy, and a great filmmaker. And it's a really, really good script. I was really surprised by the originality of it, and yet it still holds a lot of what the original films - the story, rather; there's still a very strong link to that. But then it's a totally fresh outlook, as well. So, yeah, I'm really excited about it. It's a very intelligent script. I've got about a week between this film and that, so I've got to get my **** together.'

Michael Fassbender, MovieFone, 2011.

'You won’t be disappointed. I remember when they said they were going to do another Alien, I just thought, "Where can you go with that?" Then they sent the script — I kept wondering, "When is this going to get bad?" and it never did.'

Michael Fassbender, ShortList, 2011.

Fassbender has been pretty vocal about the script being good

Here's hoping the 16th of June will prove the above post correct...

Hopefully the movie is as good as Fassbender is saying it is, and I expect it to be with Scott's involvement and all.

If Magneto endorses a film, then it must be good.

Weyland thumbprint is one of the better things that I've seen lately.

On the money factor, I find it interesting how people can take offense to an actor making movie decisions with money in mind. Isn't that the point of working? To be paid? Why should an actor be vilified for thinking about their paycheck when that is a huge part of deciding on any job in any occupation?

Also considering how much money their work generates money for other people I don't blame most actors for demanding a piece of that pie. There are certainly cases where it would seem an actor gets paid probably too much, like when their pay starts having a negative effect on the budget available to other aspects of the movie.

Pretty awesome viral, but how did people go from the WOW! signal to finding that url?

From that viral site, I managed to grab the background pics. It makes for a great wallpaper.
