PS3 price drop by the end of the year CONFIRMED

not really. the wii is short term solution to nintendos long term problems. and in time the wii will be nothing but a dying fad.

everybody had these and wham a year or so later no one gave a damn about it. nintendo is trying to make the wii an ipod, something new and catchy with a cool user interface.

and a crap load of other fads. the wii is nothing but a quick cash fix. it's sad when people like you are blind to the facts especally by a quick cash scheme.

Don't quit your day job, dude.

I applaud your effort, but you are just... flat... out... WRONG!

You compare a stellar Nintendo system to a pair of casual shoes, a small kids' toy, and a cheap mini-pet keychain device? That's not a fair comparison at all.

How in the hell will the Wii die out within a year of its release? Great games, like "Super Mario Galaxy," "Super Smash Bros. Brawl," and "Metroid Prime 3: Corruption" among others will keep the system thriving well into another year... your argument is almost completely void on that fact alone.

How is the Wii a quick-cash-fix by Nintendo? They've PLANNED this system for a couple years in advance. If it was indeed a quick-fix for cash by them, don't you think it would've been revealed much later? And how could it be a quick-fix if Nintendo has developed the controller system for a year or so? And if I'm correct, Reggie Fils-Aime has said over and over again that they planned on making the system cheap for a long time.

It's not fair to call a person blind just because they have an opinion. I feel the Wii will last for at least 3-4 more years before Nintendo's next system. This is a huge success for them, and it will last that long for them.

How is it just a fad when it is still selling out everywhere? I haven't seen a Wii on store shelves since I got mine at launch.

Where does it say the prices will go down?

I'm assuming she's kidding around, in light of the dire situation of PS3's console sales. It probably won't happen, but it should.

EDIT: @ Zenien and GoldenAgehero, but more towards GAH.

I suppose Xbox 360/PS3 is helping out matters by releasing a library of cookie-cutter games, none worthy enough to be among the industry greats such as Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Metroid Prime, A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, TP, etc. These are true great games with a firm grasp of game mechanics, unlike today's games that place more emphasis on cinematics and multiplayer, with no real understanding of the finer elements in games. I admit that most third party games on Wii are games that aren't worth purchasing at all, but as Zenien said, it is Nintendo's bold vision, commitment, and quality games that should earn them the top place. That said, the games that reflect that greatness are coming soon. But as far as I'm concerned, Wii/Wii Sports is doing exactly what Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Super Mario Bros. did all those years ago: rekindle the imagination of people everywhere.

For sure, we have to wait a while before the truly great games come, but I don't see how it was any different for Xbox 360 during launch, or any different than PS3's current state of affairs. But I still say screw the rest, as I've never played a third party game genuinely as good as Nintendo's masterpieces. They're worth waiting for.

 You haven't noticed that every single avatar of hers is a female (except Link)?
yea but what made me think Zenien was a dude was his constant "im always right, and your always wrong attitude" which can only be found in males:confused:

I am about 5000 times more argumentative online then I am in real life and I like girls, as in I like like them.

Any other questions or can we get back to how I'm right all the time? :o

EDIT: Imdaly always sounds like a chick yet is male so I'm not the only one who sends out confusing signals.

By the way, I really do respect Zenien, and the last thing I would like to do is insult her; my post is geared more towards Golden Age Hero, who I think misinterpreted Zenien's post. I think she meant to say that Wii's current software line-up doesn't earn it a top place, and I agree to some extent (although I do believe that Wii's appeal extends beyond just the motion sensing and games, as the Wii Channel interface has been extremely well received).

Not to stradle the fence, but I can honestly see both sides of the Wii argument.

I have a feeling it will be around for years to come, and isn't a failure on any level. However it does scream gimmick, like it or not. That's not to say it's a bad system, but it's not a gamers system in my eyes. It's like virtual reality, or anything else. It can be fun, and will hook the mass public, but a lot of gamers want substance rather than something that's just blasting and swinging your arms for no reason. Wii will however put out some quality games like Nintendo always does.

To me Wii is like WoW. It's an introductory level gaming system. With World of Warcraft it was an introductory level MMO. WoW is fun, it had a record amount of people subscribe, and got people generally hooked. It's cartoonish graphics appealed to kids and adults, it had just enough content to hook some hardcore MMO players, but not too much to overwhelm people new to the genre. However it didn't feel like a normal MMO, it didn't have that everquest hardcore MMO'ing feel. It's the same for Wii, it feels like a beginners game console. It's cheap, it has a fun extra in the controllers, but I can't imagine playing a final fantasy heavy story game RPG on it.

Of course with the Wii having a small price tag I doubt they were going for a state of the art graphics console. I think Nintendo picked their target audience as the general audience and catered to them, but will give some bones to the long time nintendo fans too. Many probably did buy it thinking it was cool looking, had a cool motion capture deal, and hey it's Nintendo! Not everyone did though, a lot bought it because they've followed Nintendo from console to console, and I don't blame anyone as Nintendo has a good track record.

I will say though that I share Zenien's worry of that being the future of consoles. It's why at first I disliked the X-box (later I just didn't like the original X-box's game line up, but that's another topic). I felt the X-box was trying to bridge the gap inbetween consoles and computers, and honestly I didn't want it to. I wanted console games to feel like something I couldn't get on a computer, and computer games to stay like they were. If I wanted them to be similar I'd just stick with my computer since I play it more anyway, and not buy consoles. If Wii were to set the standard and every console that came after it had some gimmick with the controls and motion capture I'd probably get sick of console games too. It's nice for awhile, but in the end I just like setting down with a normal PS2 like controller and playing a fighting game, RPG, or sports game or something.

You're joking right? If you don't know any women that are like that, then I really need to see the women you're hanging out with. Women are the same way only it's "I'm always right, and you're always wrong, but let's talk about it to death anyway"

Lmao. I love how this thread has become a Zenien revelations thread. For the record, I'm male, and like to kiss the other boys. :p

Wow. That's very interesting. Just out of curiosity, how do I come off sounding like a chick??

And does that mean you want my body? ;) :p

Wow. I like puppies and unicorns, and the color pink. Just out of curiosity sweetie, how do I come off sounding like such a cutie-wutie girl??

And does that mean you want my body? ;) :p

I think you just answered your own question....oh you edited the original message...

(I kid :woot:).

Dude, people thought I was a chick because of my name :csad:

Wow.. 360 is still selling that much more than the PS3? I would've expected it to change somewhat, but I guess not. But yeah, I can see a price drop coming much sooner than it did (is) for the 360, that's for sure.

Dude, people thought I was a chick because of my name :csad:

Ironically, I never thought about that. I actually always read it as "Farmerfan" for some reason, like you're a big fan of farmers or something lol. I have to keep reminding myself that it says "fran", not "fan".

Yea same here.

wow I always thought it said fan as well. Never saw the "R" in there

i bet you were one of those that said the exact same things about the DS. "it's a gimmick", "it'll die out within the year". and I bet you were one of those that also said the Wii sales would plunge right after christmas.

you were proved wrong then. and you'll be proved wrong again. Wii has set a new standard, please believe that sony and microsoft will follow suit with controllers similar to the wiimote next gen.

solution to long term problems? i think not. nintendo has no long term problems being that they are on top again. at this point, it's sony that has long terms problems, and they need to come up with a quick cash fix.

I seriously hope not. The wii-mote absolutely sucks for games of the racing variety, as well as being sub-standard for most other sport-oriented games aside from bowling and tennis. About an eighth of my gaming library is made of racing games, and another three-eighths covered with other sports games. That would effectively piss away most people's wants/desires for those games.

FPS games, like RedSteel, also have a bit of controlling problems because of the controller style as well. It's a very intuitive idea and cool for a handful of genres, but for others it just doesn't work as well as the standard controller.
