Punisher script review

I lost faith when I read that Punisher would feel guilty of the death of a cop. And did I just read that Nicky is going to be a detective? There are two many villains.

two? too. too many villains?! this is the punisher we're talkin bout here and way i look at it, it's just more people for him to kill.

why are people upset about the large cast? i don't wanna see a movie where the punisher mows down endless faceless villains. i wanna see developed characters and complex villains and most important of all, a good story. also, you need a strong supporting cast of characters to make the punisher seem more (or less) human through their interactions.

The terrorist plot is still very much in the script. Billy mentioned that to the Don right before he gets his head sliced off. (Billy, Pitsy, Nicky and a few others run off to a glass factory. During that time, one of officers beside Soap steps into another room and see's the Punisher exiting. He puts his gun down and throws the keys to him. His reason was because Castle could do a much better job at wrangling Russo. So - Frank uses the FBI car to drive to the factory).

Then this is even closer to the final version that I realized... But that actually fills in some of the gaps this freakin' script review was missing.

Out of curiosity what's the deal with your IP? Did you spread false info in the past or something???

Exactly... I agree a 100% and that is why in Ennis run the supporting characters have been so important cause they produce the human element of the story.

No. Few people in my household are registered here. (:D). Anything you want to know about the draft, you can ask me. I'm supposed to be getting Frank Miller's The Spirit soon, too. :cwink:

Maybe I'm being too fanboyish but I wannna see a high body count frag fest, not how Frank comes to terms with his feelings.

I don't understand at all how that had anything to do with what I said.

Your smart, you'll figure it out someday.

You're saying more villians will mean he comes to terms with his feelings? How so?

I said more villians = bigger body count.

Maybe you misread what I said or you are suggesting something that had nothing to do with what I said.

The critic of the review implied that the majority of the story towards the end would focus on his guilt towards the accidental death of a police officer. To me this just seems like an overused plot device intended for filler that could have everyone yawning . Instead of seeing Castle mope around feeling sorry for himself over the death of an innocent, I'd rather see him accumulate a high frag count,. Since this screenplay is rife with problems, whats the point of trying to deliver a decent story?

Your smart, you'll figure it out someday.

And YOU'RE smart too, and some day you'll edit that post and stop trying so hard to be ambiguous with your answers and trying to come off mysterious - because in all reality the only mysterious thing about your answer was your spelling.

Okay so explain to me how microchip fits into this - if he did at all - and try and give us a better picture of the overall story instead of that poor review we got online. Hit the major plot points, like the thug that Castle befriends who's business starts helping children in trouble... what's that all about?

Don't hold your breath then.

You got me there. Maybe he has a thing for TJ? LOL Jane did a great job though and the guy is probably pro-Jane. I dunno. I enjoyed the first film but it was missing something and it was underfunded. If this one is underfunded too then I give up.

Stretching a bit there arent we AD :yay: , I love Hugh Jackman, James Marsden, Ian Mckellan and Patrick Stewart, but i would never say X3 was good just because they were in it :yay: .

I can respect that many of here enjoy the 2004 movie, but calling '04 "accurate?"

Someone's gonna need to explain this one.

Ok, the movie had many accurate and faithful parts in it, that explain it better?

I don't buy that the Punisher would kill a cop. He does so much prep and recon and intelligence that he would know everything about everyone in that room.

Thats what I have a problem with too. I want to see Punisher the tactician, not Punisher "the emo, I just killed a cop cry-baby."

This is a good point... I mean we don't get to see the Punisher on film that often, how much time in a Punisher film should be devoted to something like emotions... Is emotions what makes us read the comic? Or something more along the line of body counts.

Fans of Ennis run know there is a subtle emotional context in almost all the stories, but at the same time Punisher still comes across as a stone cold killer of the guilty - he never lets up the mission.

And do we even know if the reviewer is using hyperbole when he calls Frank essentially a cry baby? I mean how much time do you think Lionsgate would allow for this - yes Frank should feel guilty, but you would show it over and over in a movie - every frame has a purpose not simply repeating over and over.

Barracuda and Jaws are in this film?

Sounds like a good Team Up!

Thats why the Punisher has always appealed to me, because with him there is no cliche'd "inner struggle" The other super-heroes are ruled by. He is at peace with what he does, this is why I hope most of the story revolves around the background of the antagonists, so we can really grow to hate them like we did when we first read about them. Yes he feels guilty but he doesnt cry about it. The way our Frank handles guilt is by throwing himself directly into suicidal situations, hoping that death is the outcome. If Lexi can portray Frank's suicidal nature,(where in he must Punish the guilty, yet he feels that he must Punish himself) correctly without having him come off as a cry-baby, Im sending that reviewer a nasty email.

I have faith in You Sexy Lexy, the fact that your a kick boxer satisfies my concerns about your threshold for portraying violence. And I really hope all of your inspirations are hitting you at the end of the month. I really want to see blood! (No pun intended) :D

There is something about that critique that leads me to beleive he's biased someway.

That review is pretty tight. Better than the one IESB had given us. (Didn't they get a ton o' hate mail because of that little stunt?)

I'm extremely interested in seeing the house slaughter. Seemed like a very cool scene should it be shot right.
I wish theyd just scrap the script and start fresh.

MINOR SPOILERS.........

If that script review is right, they really NEED to fix the following...

Wait, the bad guys want to allow biological weapons into American knowing full well they will be used for terrorism and kill possibly 10’s of thousands…so that they can buy a penthouse apartment? Worst, motivation, ever.

Castle’s skills are inconsistent. One moment, he can kill 20 people using only table settings, later he can’t even incapacitate one police officer.

Both of these aspects would seriously hurt this film's credibility.
