Q & A w/Louis Leterrier & Suggestions Box

Moviegoers hated the first movie because Hulk wasn't a hero at all,he was a 25 foot tall Godzilla monster fighting the U.S. military. And the villain was another 25 foot tall Godzilla monster.

You need to:
-Have Hulk not be over 8 foot tall.
-Have the Hulk help people.
-Have the villain seen hurting people, destroying the city, and the Hulk is the people's only chance of hope.
-Show the Hulk fight thugs, gangs, bikers,a satanic cult, anything that a normal superhero would face in his surroundings.

And put alot of details in the Bruce Banner character as well.Moviegoers hated Bruce Banner in the first movie because he had no emotions,he was like a robot.

Have Bruce be a drifter, give him human emotions, show him as a genius, show him get into situations that only the Hulk can get him out of.

Have Betty die,so he is a loner.

I completely disagree with the idea that Betty should die. As I said, one problem with "Hulk" was that it ignored the Betty/Bruce romance, showing them as a failed couple before we even know why they got together (but I know, I know: that's how the movie was made, it was intended to be like an artsy Greek tragedy type film and not a "popcorn" styled, action-packed superhero film, blah blah blah). In this one, I want to see the Betty/Bruce romance explored and showcased fully since they are one of my favorite Marvel couples.

Besides, there are other ways to show Bruce is a loner and have him not be with Betty without killing her off. I really, really, REALLY hope Betty doesn't die in the new film. Please keep her alive, Mr. Leterrier.

Thanks,
Stuart Green

Above sent...everyones.

JH your stuff too. I just had to put you on ignore before cause both of us were going way off track. Sorry for my part.

The only thing i'm hoping we don't lose out on is the Human element of banner..Hulk maybe the title..but its banners burden..

i have to say..i think a great template at least for the feel of the movie is the Bill Bixby series..

have as much comic book Hulk as you like..as long as it feels like a man alone, we feel sorry for him, and we are not just waiting for Banner to become the Hulk all the time.

ROBOCOP I agree with your first point to an extent. I look at it as they both burden each other & it is as much a struggle for Hulk as it is for Banner. They are two sides of the same coin fighting for the right to survive.

Banner wants to stop running & pushing people away to save them from himself & to get control of something that he allowed to fester for far too long.

Hulk wants to be free of Banner because Banner lacks the fortitude to stand up for himself & because he doesn’t, he gets mistreated or has been most of his life. Now Hulk (Banners id) has a chance to stand up for himself, something Banner doesn’t have the balls for, but he is still not completely free & he hates & blames Banner for it.

which i believe is what Ang lee touched upon in the first movie..i think one of the largest problems is,that for me anyway..i didn't connect to banner or to the HULK.

which is why i think Bixbys take on banner is the way to go for the film.. you do connect to him.. perhaps it was because i had a hard time believing Eric to be a weakling. but either way..Bixbys take is the way to go..and you need an actor who can convey that.

I actually think Ioan gruffold would have an good choice if he wasn't mr fantastic.

I don’t think Ang Lee really did touch upon it, at least very well to me. He neglected both to a degree & I don’t think favoring one over the other will help the new movie, but merely alienate one over the other. In doing so will disconnect the audience from the one less prevalent. They should present them in parallel, both with their own struggles as if they are to different characters (which they are) & yet bridge them together to show why they are struggling.

I like the first one by the way, but thought it could have been better.

I would love to see banner in the opening scene, have him walking down the street of some big city minding his own business, when a disaster happens.Train wreck?plane crashing??ship sinking??it doesnt matter,as long as it shows banner seeing it happen, and a feeling of terror, hopelessness, and compassion for the victims comes over him, causes him to transform into the Hulk, and he saves them, and it changes the publics view of him, from monster to hero.

AND I WANT THE LONLEY MAN THEME MUSIC!!!!

I liked the first movie as well.. he did touch upon it..when the HULk and banner agreed..when his father was trying to take his strength in the water.

I said not very well, not devoid & you quoted one scene out of a 2 ½-hour movie.

Opinions.

well... it still fits what i said.

"he touched upon it"

i never said he went into detail.

Please do not make the Hulk smaller then 9ft as I think he has to look awe inspiring and just out of reach of 'normal humans'.

I want that argument to be played out in there heads during earth re-entry after saving the world. Banner wanting to die as heroes and Hulk wanting to live. Now this should take place after everything has gone wrong and there's really not much to come back to. To show what kind of extremes there lives are taken to.

Dear LL,

The HULK has one thing about him that makes him unique. One thing that sets him apart from everyone else. And that's his strength. The fact he's the strongest character ever created. The fact his strength has no limit. He has shattered asteroids bigger than earth, and held up mountains weighing 150 billion tons. He has defeated villians that no other super hero could defeat. The HULK has always been the strongest character ever. Please give us this character. Show the world, show the average movie goer that the HULK is the ultimate strength machine. Stronger than Superman, Thor, Doomsday, the Juggernaut, and any one else this side of reality. Thank you again for listening to us fans.

Did you send this AD?

^ Yes though you've said that in every post. LOL Yeah I sent it. It's true and I'm glad you're hammering it home. Not sure if I want to seem him pick up an entire mountain though cause we want the audience to be in awe not laugh.

Not to mention the fact choosing some arbitrary feat of strength to strive for isn't as good as making up action that flows with the events in the film. I don't want anyone involved in the film to feel like they need to compete with Superman. Just make a good Hulk movie, with some wicked action. :woot:

I agree they need to make a film that truly shows off what The Hulk can do or there's no point in the character. However as you said it shouldn't be just some random act of strength with no purpose.

HAhAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:woot:

The HULK vs a satanic cult full of bikers. I gotta disagree with this. The HULK fights monsters. Big strong monster like characters. Mad Man, the Abom, Ravage, the Thing, Bi-Beast. And you want him to fight bikers? That's insane. Wouldn't the movie be like half a minute long?

^Yes,the Hulk should have a major villain that gives him a challenge, but I mean in the movie somewhere we should also see Bruce face regular human villains that only the Hulk can help him defeat.

If Bruce is a drifter finding odd jobs,he would probably be in some bad neighborhoods, and someone would try and pick on him, give him a hard time.

Why not, it happened enough on the TV show.

By the way, GG, I like the little clip you added to your avatar.

It happened on the TV Show cause they really didn't have the tech to making it like the comic book so they did what they could which was cool for the time. Now if he had a run in with some bikers and they started F'ing with him and he hulked out...and they ran away...that would be kind of funny but really no point.

Everything sent ^^^^ (MARKER)

By the way Louis has read everything and is as appreciative as can be. I WILL nail down a more informative Q & A as things have progressed since his intro here. When he's ready he said he'd tell me and we'll just archive the old thread and start a new one if the mods don't mind. He seems just as excited if not more excited than all of us on making an awesome Hulk film. Keep the suggestions up...we still have time.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that the Hulk is the strongest one there is yet? ;) Daccy.
