Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

The decisions you make today, are the consequences you live with tomorrow.

When a culture of male dominance over women in "you insert the industry" has been allowed to happen for several, upon several decades it is very hard to NOW try and set up a spectrum of "he was just saying stupid stuff" to "something where the authorities need to investigate and step in"....we are FAR PAST THAT POINT. And therefore, my statement above comes to pass, and it bites some in the ass.

You cannot begin setting up the goal posts until you have mowed the grass. (and Reek I'm not talking about weed).

You can't start qualifying people's intentions now....it's too late.....and when you are sweeping out the bad, you tend to sweep out some of the good as well. And honestly, as a woman, men don't get to set the goal posts up or do the sweeping. It is what it is now, and people are simply going to have to endure yanking out the splinter because that is just how it is when you have a "Cultural Revolution" steam rolling down the tracks....and there is still A LOT OF MOWING AND SWEEPING TO BE DONE.

I hope Tarantino is paying Uma's medical bills. If not, then his apology rings hollow.

That would be something the studio should be doing. That should be covered under their film insurance. Unless they decided to dispute it or something.

I disagree. I can't imagine a single situation where nuance, debate and a deeper understanding of the issue is ever wrong or unnecessary. This is not a race against the clock, this is a development that's gonna take however long it takes to settle.

It's never too late to keep people off the chopping block who may not deserve it. I think it's dangerous to suggest otherwise.

This is just simply not true. Men have a voice in this as much as any person. When a male on female rape goes to trial, do they fill the courthouse with females because men don't get to dictate what happens to the accused? There is no special reason that allows females to dismiss an entire gender, or vice versa.

I'm not sure where you got the first part....but ok.

To your second part, I have no problem with an investigation into allegations happening....my problem is, we haven't been doing this all along. So, ya can't start crying now that things are happening at a fever pace. That will always happen at the beginning of revolutions.

As far as the last part.....LMAO....at the last part.

I don't want a revolution where we throw sense out of the window just because you've put some arbitrary time limit on it.

But I'm a man, so what do I know.

It's not about who has more knowledge, it is more about who has been given the lion's share of opportunity to use their knowledge is really what the revolution is about.

See, as soon as a woman says, hey....it is my turn, take a seat for just a moment, some (not saying you), but some cry reverse discrimination, all they want to do is take over, all they want to do is go willy nilly. That is just not the case...

And again, I have to laugh at your parting words....

Put some arbitrary time liming on it? LMAO....... I think we've been pretty damn patient since we didn't get the right to vote until almost 150 years after the birth of our country, and here we are STILL fighting for "simple" equality.....NOT MORE....simple equality, simple ability to do our job without fear of reprisal because certain criteria is not met.....another almost 100 years later....so, um.....what was that about putting some arbitrary time limit on this? Seriously?

And yes, women in power can do this as well....but really? we aren't even equal in that.... :cwink:

That's a big step down but we'll see.

Heard comes with a RRodriguez recommendation. Demian Bichir has also hinted at working with him again. We shall see.

I think QT made it clear they didn't consider it a stunt.

So what? You hire a STUNT COORDINATOR to determine what is or is not considered a stunt, whether a stunt person is required, whether a stunt man should be on set to advise and supervise. If a director makes it clear that he doesn't consider an actor fighting a live tiger a stunt....do you think he won't be sued after the tiger kills the actor? He hired a stunt coordinator to supervise all action scenes in the movie....then told the coordinator and his entire stunt team to not show up for filming when they put her in a car and sent her down a dirt road.

What do you mean by certain criteria not being met?

And your point being?

What do you mean by certain criteria not being met?

That would depend on what is being asked of the actor, as in special favors to get a part, keep a part, keep a job, not be black balled, etc.

I honestly can't picture a scenario in which this film isn't littered with the music of the era.

Yeah, he will not be able to resist throwing in some of his favorite 60's tunes. Which is good.

The setting alone denands something of the music of the moment to be featured in some way. And given Q's past work, yeah, it's to tempting for him. I am sure it will mix iconic tunes from the era along with some WTF under the radar works as well.
