Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

I think it's safe to say this is gonna be Tarantino reveling in his love of movies the most unabashedly of anything since Inglourious Basterds, and probably even more so.

Well, making comparisons between the “end” period that Hollywood was undergoing in ‘69 with the current state of movie making, sure. Lots of room to have video store chats there. I’m thinking (hoping, really) it’s not entirely a celebratory thing. I mean, this isn’t a movie with a happy ending, right?

We don't really know what the main story is or how big of a part Sharon Tate has.

If we followed what QT said, that the film is about the overall experience of 1969, then, yeah, probably not the feel good movie of 2019.

I'm super-hyped too. The setting and circumstances are exciting. Great, to say the least, cast. As well as it not being a western. While QT knocked it out of the park, I missed his 90s films like PF and JB.

Lena Dunham, Austin Butler, Maya Hawke, Lorenza Izzo Board Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’

More casting news on Sony’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. The Quentin Tarantino-helmed film has added Girls alum Lena Dunham, Austin Butler, Maya Hawke, and Chilean actress Lorenza Izzo.
This film marks the first major feature for Dunham, who spent six seasons starring on the HBO series, Girls, the show she created. She’s also the exec producer and writer of the upcoming HBO comedy series, Camping. Butler was recently in production on Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die, which also stars Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Adam Driver, and Selena Gomez, and recently starred opposite Denzel Washington in the Tony Award-nominated Broadway production of The Iceman Cometh.

Hawke — daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman — starred as Jo March in BBC’s three-part adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott classic Little Women and is set as a series regular in the third season of Netflix’s Stranger Things. Izzo recurs in the final season of Hulu’s Casual series and appears in Universal’s The House with a Clock in Its Walls.

Lena Dunham to play Manson disciple in Tarantino's Once Upon A Time in Hollywood
EW has confirmed that the Girls creator will play Catherine “Gypsy” Share, a member of Charles Manson’s commune, alongside Carrie Diaries star Austin Butler as Charles “Tex” Watson and newcomer Maya Hawke (the daughter of frequent Tarantino collaborator Uma Thurman and actor Ethan Hawke) as a fictional character named Flower Child. Chilean actress Lorenza Izzo will also portray Francesca Capucci, a glamorous Italian movie star.

Okay, I'll bite:

Does anyone else find it weird that Uma's daughter is going to be in the movie after that big statement she made a couple months ago about her treatment while filming Kill Bill?

That’s what I (poorly) insinuated above. I don’t know. Did Uma said she was okay with Tarantino again?

I think the press made a bigger deal out of it. Didn't she say they had a talk afterwards and Tarantino apologized profusely and then they were good with one another?

It's why the footage went public cause Tarantino allowed it admitting his wrong.

True.

But still, even after all that it still looks peculiar.

Not peculiar to me at all. Thurman defended Tarantino from all the media hate he was getting.

Yeah she said that she had forgiven him for that already and more blamed the people who covered it up, like everyone's old "pal" Harvey Weinstein, as opposed to Tarantino himself.

Although this does raise the obvious question, is Tarantino going to have a close-up shot of Lil Uma's feet like he did her mom? We all know that he's at least considered it. ;)

Danny Strong and Handmaid's Tale breakout Sydney Sweeney have joined Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The movie, set in 1969 LA, also has added Polish actor Rafal Zawierucha to play a young Roman Polanski, joining previously announced star Margot Robbie, who portray Sharon Tate. Clu Gulager, James Landry Hébert and Better Things star Mikey Madison also have been tapped as castmembers.

So Manson and his girls are confirmed to have roles....makes me wonder how prominent the whole Sharon Tate thing is.

I'm curious who they get to play Manson.

Also, why the hell is Lena Dunham a thing?

If QT gives us a close up of Lena Dunham's feet in this movie, I'll walk out.
