Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

I REALLY enjoyed this movie... ALOT. Just saw it over the weekend and man, it left me wanting more of Leo and Brad who are just damn good actors. This match up of Tarantino, Leo and Brad was long over do and it delivered!

Margo is a great actress but seems like more eye candy in this film for me and I felt like the movie didn't really need her character.

Boy that ending... Whew! Good!

I also enjoyed most of the comments, criticisms and reviews on here, all noted.

But I find it to be a really well acted and entertaining movie that I wouldn't mind paying twice to go see.

Usually a big Tarantino fan I loved Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained, Kill Bill 1 & 2. Really enjoyed Reservoir Dogs & The Hateful Eight as well but honestly I just couldn't get in to this one.

Will say big props to Brad Pitt though even though I didn't really enjoy the film I enjoyed all of his scenes, his character was really fun to watch.

I wonder how this movie plays out to people who have absolutely no idea about the Manson Family and Sharon Tate and the real life events.

I would assume the ending wouldn’t have nearly the same tension or impact without having that prior knowledge of the real life events.

My friend has never even heard of Manson I have a somewhat limited recollection of it.

Personally think it worked better if you didn't know the history.

How so?

The entire dread conjured up at the end is because you know what really happened.

I hadn't read anything about the movie so didn't know about the twist going in, for me it had the opposite effect.

Frankly I didn't really understand how Robbie's Sharon Tate would fit in to their story other than being a neighbour leading up to it (because it felt like she hadn't really had any development in the movie) but as the hippie's start to walk up the road to kill her that did instill a bit of dread. That subsided almost immediately however when they went to Rick's house instead of Sharon's, even if Rick, Cliff, Ricks wife and the dog had all been killed it just wouldn't have had that much impact for me because its pure fiction. Also the fight was funny and entertaining but I never felt any tension or fear for either Rick or Cliff

I imagine it might still work without knowing, but contrasting what really happened with what happens in the movie is probably half the fun.

For me, having only heard of the stories as a child and referenced over the years in culture I was aware of Manson, the family and the horrible story.

Compacted by the this being a Tarantino movie I was anticipating something horrible happening. Especially at the ranch. So the ending made me wonder how actual all that was. After finding out what was changed, it made that ending oh so much better. Hence... "Once upon a Time...."

Really good movie!

My gf was unaware going in. She just felt confused at who Manson was when he first appeared and why Tate’s character got so much focus. She also thought Margot was playing a Tate imposter or something because of the theater scene lol.

The climax was super left field for her as the whole movie just felt kinda slice-of-life on a Hollywood level. There was no mounting sense of dread.

LOL, as if the movie wasn't long enough already. I was wondering why they haven't announced a Blu-ray/Digital release date yet and I guess this is why.

How has this not leaked yet
Heh, well...

Finally saw this today. Surprised he didn't fit Sam into in some way. Also I came to this thread to see what the reactions were when it first came out and one of the first posts I see is:

If they do some alternate ending where the Tate party gets saved or kicks the Manson family’s ass, that’ll feel a little.....icky.
:hehe:

Tarantino's one of my favorite directors. I love his work, everything except for Kill Bill, but for some reason, this movie just didnt ignite my interest. I STILL havent seen it

Weakest Taratino movie for me. I was bored to death. Even the ending, which is the part that many, without liking the movie, enjoy, I think it was so forced and boring.

And yes, I do know about the Sharon Tate murder and stuff, but that ending is still obvious for me because, well, it’s typical Taratino.

All in all, this is the first time that I am disappointed about a Taratino movie.
