R&B Haters

Most r&b nowadays consists of the same lyrics. I cheated on you, you cheated on me. Girl, I want your body, boy, I want your body. I can treat you better than he/she can. Granted, a lot of songs in country and rock focus on romance, but I like songs that have some more depth, like the old school Stevie Wonder where he talked about socially relevant stuff. You want to hear some good r&b/soul, check her out.

Audioslave IS NOT R&B-They used to be however the greatest band Ever! PRE-Chris Cornell. I'm sorry. Rage was my altime favorite rock group, Zach de La Rocha never made a slow songt: . Evil Empire will whip you up in frenzy and have you harrasing neighbors in your shorts in as little as 2 listen's.

The 'new' band is great, Tom Morello is a genius, and I've heard this album is less 'rock', so I'ts not a slam, but anytime you mention the guys from Rage the Gamma Rays I was bombarded w/ as a child turn me green

I never said they WERE R&B. I said they had taken a lot of influence from old-school R&B artists with their new album. But thanks for playing.

And for the record, I'm a long-time Rage and Soundgarden fan and much preferred these musicians in those respective bands, but this new Audioslave album has me wondering for the first time if maybe they aren't onto a really good thing after all.

17K posts dictate some semblance of longevity...or somethin else, so I'm not going to take a bad turn, but what is your issue w/ Badu? Unless you think she's funny lookin or somethin, then it's a rhetorical question, her music is not only good...but unlike the rest of this neo-Soul movement she's made it half a dozen albums. And she's the most hip-hop out of the bunch. This list plays like hairbands of the '80's. With some rare exceptions-Musiq for his writing, Raphael's been around for a career already, most are 2 hit wonders, and that's givin my people an extra albums worth of credit. Now that doesn't make there contributions any less valid, and I don't know what the hell happend to D'Angelo besides getting way too high, but he was the flagship. Maxwell too, he should be showing up on the side of a carton of dean's chocolate milk before Christmas.

Ummm....I don't have an "issue" with her, I just don't dig Erykah Badu's music. It doesn't move me or suit my tastes all that much. It's a personal preference not an all-encompassing, artist-defining statement that will be applied as biblical-like law to all humans on the planet until the end of times. Thanks for building my molehill into a mountain, though.

You probably mean Ziggy... although the Melody Makers are some other of Bob's children: Sharon, Cedella and Stephen.

And then there's Julian and Damian who also have recorded albums.

O.K. borderline phedofilia aside as far as 'our' entertainers go and longevity..you got Sammy Davis, The Isley's, The Godfather, B.B. King, Michael fell so hard that I don't even bring him up anymore. Then you got R.Kelly. Hey, I remember the DAY Video soul debuted his first song Vibe, I can't buy his albums anymore, but he's been a staple in American music for as long as anybody that still churns our records. Him and Mary J. no matter how young you are, you know them. Sad to say, we've endured 1 hit wonders for close to 20 years.

I've always hated the term "Neo-Soul". Soul music isn't new.
