The best SUPERMAN RETURNS trailer was still the teaser, and that was great because of non-SR elements (William's score and Brando's narration... too iconic for words). This trailer makes the movie look good and is overall a far more impressive trailer than the first theatrical trailer.
Brandon Routh just looks miscast, though - vocally and lookswise. He might fit the goofy Kent, but when he's in the suit and talking as Superman, he just doesn't connect. I'm hoping he proves me wrong in the film proper, but judging from the footage available, he just doesn't cut it.

Well said.
I'm deeply dissapointed with the "new superman". He looks nothing like Reeve's, his voice sounds like BALE's - Batman Begins...he fakes it so bad. HE tries to sound all tough and hardcore when he is nothing more than a ***** cat!
The movie looks promising though.
That argument is kinda vague, be more specific about why he "just doesn´t connect".Agentsands77 said:It's a good trailer, nothing spectacular though. i gave it a 9 because it deserves a 9. believe it or not there are better trailers than this one. i was about to give it an 8 but i remembered that's what i gave the teaser, and certainly this piece was better than the last.
really dude, you can certainly learn a great deal by not getting carried away by your emotions
He's just kind of... well, flat. There's nothing particularly arresting about his Superman. Does he fit? I suppose so, but there's nothing extraordinary about him.ultimatefan said:That argument is kinda vague, be more specific about why he "just doesn´t connect".

The biggest problem with Routh is that there's just no sense of commanding presence, either physically or vocally. And Superman should be commanding to an epic degree - he should be almost god-like, in that sense. Vocally he sounds weak (compare to Superman's voice in the TAS), and physically he just looks like some dude in a suit.
I want Superman to feel like a god just descended from Mt. Olympus and walks among mortals. Routh doesn't do that for me.
Physically Reeve wasn´t much more imposing than Routh, and he still delivered it. His voice sounds masculine but also gentle, which is something I think Supes should sound like.Agentsands77 said:He's just kind of... well, flat. But Reeves had a much more commanding voice, and a much more magnetic, mature presence. Routh lacks both the command and the maturity, I think. He really feels like he's Clark Kent who's eventually going to grow into the Superman mantle, rather than the fully matured and iconic Superman.ultimatefan said:Physically Reeve wasn´t much more imposing than Routh, and he still delivered it. Superfreak said:Yep, I gave it a one, a poor on the scale. Now let me explain this, the new footage rules, and some of the expanded scenes look really cool. There is no flow to it. Especially the begining which has very little music/or the music is to quiet to hear under the dialogue. Either way, this trailer was put together by a thousand monkeys. It's actually one of the most craptastic movie trailers I've seen come out in a long time.
Can't wait for teh movie, but man, these substandard, highschool film class slide show previews have got to stop
