I disagree with this. It's clear as day how? Why do you think they are more alike than different?

The pronounced webbing and the texture. Two "little" things that make a huge difference. The other similarities can (and admittedly have been) be chalked up to taking significant inspiration from the comics. The differences, on the other hand, are pretty negligible (at least IMO).

To be honest, I'm not really that interested in the topic. I just wanted to voice my thoughts. You're entitled to your opinion, and I respect the fact that you feel differently. Either way, the suit looks fine, and I'm sure it'll look fine in the movie.

I know no one said it. I say that to try and illustrate tht it's quite the leap in logic to say that's what people are thinking.

I wasn't making a conclusive statement. I was making an observation based on what I've seen. I didn't mean to imply that anyone felt that way for sure. I apologize if it came off that way.

It looks black to me. But I wish they could've done something different than raised webbing, or at least made it look more visually unique, if that's even possible. And I definitely miss the texture from the first suit.

They look more alike than different - and not just because they're both extremely faithful to the source material. I don't see why it's such a big deal to say that the new suit took heavy inspiration from the old one, even if they don't look one hundred percent exactly the same. I mean...look at them. It's clear as day. Accepting the similarities to the Raimi suit won't tarnish your love of the ASM2 suit.

Honestly, I'd like to see what the new suit would look like with the same texture from the first ASM suit. I felt, even though everyone else mostly opposed, that material/texture was really cool. It just gave the costume character in my opinion.

All they needed to do is make the eyes bigger, white lenses, add a belt, get rid of the side strips, solidify the glove pattern to the original, and BAM you have a great looking Spidey suit. Not to say this one doesn't but people drawing comparisons to Raimi's, which yes obviously there are similarities, doesn't make this suit any less impressive.

That's what I meant in my post. The suit's webbing is actually black, but because it's the damn raised webbing, it comes off more grey than anything else.

Still, I'll take it over the silverish webbing we got in the Raimi trilogy. :P

If you're not joking, then I gotta say, the fabric texture in the TASM costume wasn't basketball at all and that manip is. the difference is quite obvious

You know, that Facebook cover photo with Spidey pointing his shooters on a white background is better than any of images released for the first film. It has a lot of personality. Just a great tone to it. Perfect for Spidey. The new suit has a lot to do with it. Those eyes are perfect and so expressive.

The best part is that the suit looks so good in just set pics and stills I can only imagine how much better it will look in action on film and the cgi version too.
