You're totally missing the point of his post. Beyond the fabrics, which is essentially what you're talking about, the suit design cues resemble Steve Ditko's original design.

So does Raimi's suit. If you're going with a direct interpretation from the comics- there aren't a lot of things you can change. But the things that are distinctly from Raimi's design- the texture, the raised silver webbing have been adapted to the TASM2 suit. It isn't like those are from any comic book design or any previous live action suit. Those were Sam Raimi's decision. Yet folks here make it seem as though this is something unique to TASM2, while even trashing the Raimi design.

Are you looking at the same pictures? The textures are nowhere near the same. Raimi's suit looks soft and dull, while Webb's is leathery and metallic.
The biggest similarity is the raised webbing, but even that's different.

TASM suit had folds and stuff in it too. Like the front of the mask would crinkle up like in 2-3 shots of the movie, and the suit would have creases all the time. You realize that that suit has to have a harness to support it, which is going to cause it to wrinkle some due to supporting the weight of the person inside of it right? The harness would also make the costume look little chunky in the abdoman area. Seriously though, is the Internet just a place for people to get all the unsatisfied housewife out of their system? Lol

I saw the TASM's set photos aswell, and I loved them

Wrinkling on the sides are good and natural but you cant deny that in the abdominal area it looks terrible. That kind probably wont be in the movie so no worries

Are you saying you honestly can't tell the difference beween this:

And this:

If so, then I don't think you have much of an eye for detail. They are similar in the sense that they are both Spider-man costumes, they are clearly both based on Ditko's original design, but it's ridiculous to say they're the same suit. To me, the Raimi suit looks like an overly expensive and flashy prop that resembles Spider-man, but the ASM2 suit looks like Spidey literally jumped off the comic page.

And before anyone accuses me of flip-flopping or any such nonsense, I never liked the thick, raised silver webbing, or the crappy grey triangle eyes, the overly 'padded' look and fake looking muscle shading. The new suit has none of those things. Yes, the new suit has raised webs and a brick pattern, but if you seriously think they're the same costume you need your eyes checked.

They tweaked it but it is the same basic design.

Amazing Spider-Man was the lowest grossing Spider-man movie ever. The costume was horrible and it looked like hot garbage. They needed something that looked reminiscent of the classic more successful trilogy. Pretty clear and cut and dry to me.

Nope. Scaley patterns on the red and blue sections. Raised webbing. White lenses.

Are you blind? Look at the material they're made up of. Raimi's SM suit has no shine whatsoever, and looks soft, while Webb's has gloss and looks a bit leathery. The red and blue sections are shapped differently. You're just generalizing TASM2's suit in order to make it
seem more like Raimi's but there are very clear differences, and subtle differences that you're ignoring, that a lot of people seem to be ignorning to prove some odd point.

The layouts of the suit are completely different. Raimi's curviated and circular while Webb's is more straight cut and slender.

I'll give you the scaley pattern. Raised webbing? There's an arguable reason for choosing it. White lenses? Hm I wonder what color they were in the comic books.

Someone posted here that Raimi's was cut pretty close to the comic design. Therefore, any OTHER attempt to make a costume CLOSE to the comic design, will then "look like" Raimi's.
Simple.

The costume in TASM had raised webbing too. It has become something Spider-Man has in live-action in the same way wearing rubber/armor has become something that Batman wears in live-action. That's really the only thing both costumes have in common aside from stuff that are there from the comics.

White lenses? Seriously? No **** that he has white lenses. What color do you think the lenses in the comics are?

I'm not blind at all. Haters of the Raimi movie are simply in denial they did a costume more similar to that version.

Not in the Amazing Spider-Man movie :) .
What the hell is that supposed to mean...?

Why are comic book fans the hardest to please? The costume is the best thing I have ever seen, and yet still there are complainers. Would you rather not have a movie at all?

u mad?

The Raimi suit looks like some idiot child went wild with the wrong crayon. If you can't see the difference between those two pics it's your problem.

When did I say I couldn't see the difference? Please show me the post. Do we need lessons in reading? Put down the crayons and pick up a book. If you want to bash about reflective webbing, put on some glasses.

It's definitely black.

It's not black...it's more of a dark grey or a gun metal color that is very reflective.

Before the children come back and throw their toys, Raimi's suit is definitely more reflective and silvery. The webbing is also wider which could also make it more apparent. But...this one is silver and reflective when the light hits it as well as seen in many shots. It's not a flat black, it's reflective. I have no problem with this new suit...I love it. The only problem I have on here are people that have IQ scores lower than 100. The lenses are black if you want something to compare the webbing to.
