Raimi gets all the credit because he stayed up late nights and sewed Tobey's suits all by himself.

But I even said it was similar, just not a rip off...

I mean it's not a rip-off. I mean this is all the same family. This is all Spider-Man, Sony, Marvel Ent., etc.

I'm just saying, the ASM costume was horrible. This movie they went back to the well and picked a costume that works better.

For me Raimi's Spider-man looked like it jumped out of the comic. I'm not an old guy, the 90's Spidey and 00's designs are my Spider-man. Plus I got all the damn animated tv shows. At this point no one can make the most faithful design. Too many artists have touched it.

What we got here are two very similar looking suits but with different details.

And you know what I'll say this, many of the Raimi Spider-man pictures are the worst examples. Raimi was concerned about movement because he know's he not doing a photoshoot of Spider-man just standing around. The suit was made to look good while moving, find those picture.



But seriously I love that picture of Spider-man underneath the coat. I wanna see a scene where has boxing gloves and a robe.

I'm not blind at all. Haters of the Raimi movie are simply in denial they did a costume more similar to that version.

I haven't seen anyone say that, just that it's not the *same* suit.

I'll freely admit that when I saw the first official picture, the first thing that came to mind was 'it looks like the Raimi suits'. It's the brick pattern that did it, I do question that a little. The raised webbing is another similarity between the two, but that is a pretty general idea and the result here looks very different.
I was definitely expecting it to have more in common with the previous suit, buts it's a complete redesign that -being closer to the original- does happen to look more like the suits in the Raimi trilogy.

I think the lenses on the Raimi suits looked more grey than white, and the frames were also grey so they just melted together. The new suit has clear white lenses and black frames.

The lenses are black if you want something to compare the webbing to.

yeah, pretty much all of us realise they are black webs on the costume, it is only chaseter who seems to deny it. good to have eye witness evidence to back up the consensus view though

Really obvious how black the webs are here too.

I may need a plasma tv to see the shades of deep black those webs have.

you could just as easily respond to what you say that the way the light hits the black on the costume makes it appear silver.

how light can hit silver and make it black seems to make less sense, at least from a folk psychological perspective, than the other way around (light makes things brighter, and silver is brighter than black)

i also wrote this a few pages back but you didn't reply to it.

ps. i love how you go from saying it is silver but later renege to "gun metal" which is as close to black as it is to silver...
