"You didn't like Famke?!! Shame on you!"

My problem with Famke, and Ive stating this many times here, is with her age.

I wanted 6 X-Men films which would have had Famke closing it on 50 by the time those other films were made.

I would have preferred a younger cast we could see age, grow and mature together over time.

With so many franchises using the multiple film approach in recent years - it shows its the way to go. Singer was toying with teh idea of filming 3 and 4 together and releasing them a year apart. Planning a cohesive storyline over multiple films. This would have also solved the problem of dealing with a larger cast as it would have given time to focus on different members of a large cast over a period of many films. Everyoen would have had a chance to shine -Instead we got 3 Wolverine movies.

They did so little right and so much wrong.

It burns my ass that we got 1 excellent Xmen film (X2)and 2 others that are just ok(1&TLS).

Hell they could have made 9 of these movies if theyd done it properly.

have to agree with ya Conan69 on that one... I thought Famke was perfect right now but if they did make more than what they did she would get old quick... and yeah the focus on Wolverine (the most over rated super hero of all time in my opinion) was a little annoying...

I think the problem is, and you must know, before X1 came out, superhero movies were dust, and even (and mostly) Fox's CEO was rooting/expecting the movie to bomb. Nobody would predict X-Men would become such an enourmous franchise, and this is why I think Singer cared more about hiring competent actors (regardless of age, the ones that could pull off what he envisioned) than young ones.

except of course Singer's sense comletely left him when he cast Halle Berry....hehehehe...looks the part can't act....hehehe

He wanted Angela Basset at first. (if I'm not mistaken) She refused. Plus he hates Storm :p

ahhhh.. wel that certainly would have been a better acting choice but I'm not sure she has the "baby fat" Halle has...and Storm has always been a little "girlish" but yeah the acting would have been significantly better

I'd give it a 9, cuz i don't like the actor who did Iceman
that hurts:xmen: I thought Shawn ashmore did one hell of a great job as iceman.

I agree Nightcrawler89... ashmore did great, I think his character was written a little....wussily(is that even a word?) but he was great!

Halle Berry did great with what she was given. Done.

Just because Bryan Singer wrote her as something different from the comics, isn't Halle's fault. She acted the role as it was written and did one hell of a job as did the rest of the cast.

Her best film was definitely X2 (think of her conversation with NC on the XJet or how badass she is in Dark Cerebro).

Sorry BobJm.. going to have to disagree with you on the Halle thing. Yes her character was written a little....odd... butif there was one actor/tress I had to say something negative about it would be Halle... in almost all the scenes she's in her portrayal almost always seemed... theatrical... it alays seemed like she was in aply having to "overact" the moment to get it across...

ahhhh.. well not to sound like a flip flopper but I can agree with that Deadpool... the iceman by ashmore was a fair degree wussier than the arrogant one in the comics... (course I never did understand how a hero with only ice power would be cocky... I mean just carry a heat lamp with you everywhere and you're set right? ) :) hehehe

he did a good job, but before i saw it i had been hoping he'd be like in the comics
understandable. I am not a comic reader, just tv and movies, but yes I see your point.

i dont knoy Jay i doubt its a word but yea Rogue was the man in that relationship:grin:

Well if you think about it NightCrawler89 if you're girlfriend could kill you when you make out would you NOT let her be the pants in the family? I mean seriously you do something to piss her off and she would be saying things... "Oh you did not. Just to let you know next time we're fooling around I'm putting you in the hospital...and not in a good way." *shiver*

She would have to toutch you though. Bobby could freeze her before she got near him if he wanted.

Yeah, good question :woot:

My main gripe with the casting is the roles for Rogue,Storm,Nightcralwer and the lack of Gambit in the movie.

I just didnt feel as though Rogue was all that interesting in these movies both character-wise and actress-wise.

Storm could have been played by a better black actress than Halle Berry. I think Halle is a great actress , but the superhero scene isnt her specialty. Alot of people ive seen wanted Angela Basset which would have been a good choice and i wouldnt have minded. My personal fav pic would have been Gina Torres.

Nightcrawler was actually a good pick but if i had to be nit-picky i would get a more muscular person to do the part. Also i dislike the fact that Alan Cumming left because he disliked the length of time it took to apply the makeup. That being said i really would have prefered the fur themed nightcrawler a opposed to the blue skin with tattos on it.

As fir Gambit i dont know who i would wantto play him but it better be a damn good actor because hes one of my favorite x-men.

Well as far as Gambit is concerned he didn't show in the comics until WAY later.. I mean in the movies Collosus was just a young teen and not even part of the team. (granted I know that all the ages were mixed up) Also based on thhe general...uh....vagueness???.... of Gambit and his powers I think he would have been a tough sell for general audiences. You know?

Great:
Hugh Jackman-Wolverine
Ian McKellan-Magneto
Patrick Stewart-Xavier
Anna Paquinn (so criminally miused in X3)-Rogue
Alan Cummings-Nightcrawler

Good:

James Marsden-Cyclops (**** X3)
Famke Jassen-Jean Grey
Rebecca Romjin-Mystique (X3 ****ed her up too)
Bryan Cox-William Stryker
Aarron Stanford-Pyro
Bruce Davison-Sen. Kelly
Kelsey Grammer-Beast
Guy who played Iceman last
Kelly Hu-Lady Deathstryke

The bad:

Halle Berry-Storm (and X3 gives her a bigger part?! WTF?!)
Vinnie Jones-Juggernaut
Whoever played Collosus
All the new bad mutants in X3

People who were so underused that you cannot tell

Ellen Page-Shadowcat/Kitty Pride
Ben Foster-Angel

So I give it an 7/10. Probably an 8.5/10 if not for all the mistakes X3 made (and that is just casting).

Also, I am glad that (at least in the first and mosto f the second) the mutants were all introduced as adults. I mean Marsden was somewhat young for Cyclops in the first movie but they all said X-MEN not X-teens. The idea of "casting young to watch them grow" I think is a bad idea spawned from Spider-Man who was meant to be young. Like with JL, they are looking at making all the heroes in their early 20s. Who wants to see a Batman that young or Superman or wonder Woman? GI Joe is making Duke played by a 20-something dancer/actor (and I use the term actor loosely). Cobra is played by someone who was in consideration to being a replacement of Peter Parker in the next Spidey flick.

I'm glad Singer cast young. If anything by the looks of X3, Ratner would have delivered a young LXG if he had the reins from the beginning. Be thankful for at least that.

I think you underrated Cox. He was more than a worthy adversary, capable of standing up to Magneto.
