I don't think that really works because Idris Elba is already too badass. What made Harry do great was that he was played by unassuming nerd Colin Firth.

Maybe I should've worded that differently. Sure, he's a handsome guy that lots of people really like, but he also comes across as kind of a stuffy dork, if that makes sense. Like he's not someone you look at and expect to kick everyone's ass, while Idris Elba looks like he could beat the crap out of every guy in the room AND steal their women (or men, as everyone loves Idris).
