Sequels Recasting the X-Men for the MCU

It's kind of hard because you don't want to go too old, like having a forty year old wolverine with a sixteen year old Jean. But he should look weathered.
At this point I'd prefer they ignored the love-triangle. They don't have to show Logan lusting after Jean in every new version of the X-Men. It's not like he doesn't have plenty of other love-interests.

Alex pettyfer would be such a sexy cyclops
How is his acting? I'm sure I've seen him in something but nothing comes to mind.

If they wanna go young (but not too young), I would totally dig Ansel Elgort (23) and Katherine McNamara (22) as Scott & Jean.

Um to be honest it's probably not that great and I have heard he is difficult to work with but he is still very handsome and I don't think we honour handsome people enough in society

Ive always seen too many fancast of actors for X-Men that just give "bad tv" casting vibe.
The X-Men deserve better than that, imo

Sophie, Tye and Kodi are perfect examples of not going with the obvious "tv star" of the moment from mediocre teen shows. Ansel is a solid choice, tho. not the best, but talent wise, he's good obviously.

Its tricky, you definitely should try and get the best talent. I remember back before we knew how good marvel was people wanted oded fehr for iron Man and some supermodel redhead for pepper (not me, I wanted Julianne Moore). It was marvel that stepped it up with Robert Downey Jnr and Gwyneth. No one really thought a comic book film could get talent like that.

That said though once upon a time chris Hemsworth was just a soap star.

Precisely what I said during a pivotel scene in the movie Magic Mike

I'm loving all these people posting pictures of hot men in this thread. Honestly I was a bit dissapointed the Johnny storm casting posts have been this exciting but the xthreads have definitely made up for it

The X-Boards have a history of liking the hot men. ;)

The MCU X-Men should definitely be around the same age as our current MCU heroes not younger. Maybe Iceman and Kitty could be around Peters age but the rest should be older

Why should they definitely be the same age?

That makes no sense. No sense at all. None.

If the X-Men are going to be part of a new phase (or two) of the MCU, the cast/characters need to be of an age to carry forward a set of films spanning up to a decade. Casting actors in their 50s isn't really a good idea and might not work.

And if mutants are newly discovered in the MCU, it makes no sense for those mutants to be aged in their 40s or 50s and hiding their powers for that long.

So, no, no and no.

You just picked a load of Hollywood pretty boys. They all look pretty much the same, like they even went to the same hair stylist. Poor choices, I think. You were just led by your gonads.

Oh heavens no please don't tell me someone on superherohype made a casting list led by their gonads! That's never happened!

Plus there's some talented people there. Taron, armie etc. definitely not the worst list

I think the suggestions for Scott were all solid actors. Although Zac Efron would probably make a better Iceman. I'd support the casting of Hedlund as Cyclops for his commanding voice alone and, between Kingsman and Eddie the Eagle, Taron Egerton has definitely made an impression on me.

I was just watching a show called Claws and there was an actor, Jack Kesy, who would make an amazing Sabretooth

Are you talking about my Scott picks? It's kind of hard to pick actors to play a tall skinny white boy who don't tend to be attractive.

I picked Hedlund because I just saw him in Mudbound and thought he was terrific.

Taron Egerton has been a popular Scott pick since before XMA, and I agree with those people.

Zac Efron is the only person I actually find "hot", but I chose him because he's charismatic and has the all-American square jawed look.

I want Taron Egerton to play a character that needs to be shirtless all the time. :p

Exactly. Like he should get superpowers from taking his shirt off

It’s a superhero movie. Shirtless scene is contractual.

not for Tye Sheridan apparently

Yes, gotta keep in mind that these characters are likely going to be taking over from the Avengers. So like what I said about Reed (who should be 36-42 range) they're in it for the long haul. The main members should be under 30 years old (Scott, Jean, Beast, Storm etc) So mid twenties to late twenties.

And I really like JP's picks for Scott and Jean. How about Logan Browning for Ororo? She looks exactly like comic Storm and she's a terrific actress
