One of the few times I agree with OutofBoose, but he’s right. The cheap looking cinematography, the bad looking CG infected dog and Tyrant. This looks like straight-to-DVD fodder.

And that music choice. What were they even thinking?

Just check out filmography of the director. Dirty deeds done dirt cheap. The guy didn't outgrow his indie roots.

I’ve seen shots from trailers for recent indie films with probably a way lower budget that look more cinematic than whatever fan-film junk this is.

Say what you will about the Anderson flicks and how bad they were, they certainly didn’t skimp out in the cinematography department. There are shots in those at times that make them look like way better than they actually are.

Someone like a James Wan or a Leigh Wannell, who both make really quality looking fare for cheap, would killed it on something like this. I mean, just watch some of the better Saw films, the Conjuring films, or even Upgrade or The Invisible Man.

I mean, there’s just no excuse for this low level of quality.

Oh yeah. The casting looks completely off. The guy they got to play Leon looks WAY off and really? Robbie Amell as Chris?!

I think i nailed it, this looks like the CW’s attempt as Resident Evil.

I still maintain that Hopper and Amell are miscast. They should switch roles. Hopper has that boulder punching look, you know?

If Sony was intentionally going for a low budget b horror film with this iteration of Resident Evil than they should have atleast swung for the fences and got a quality, low budget director like Timo Tjahjanto to direct this.

Sure I would love to see what James Wan, Leigh Whannel or even GDT could do with this property with a higher budget, but Timo has done some great stuff in the action and the horror genre IMO and he's the kind of director that definitely would have gone for more practical effects for the creatures.

I still can't get over bad alot of the CGI looks in this trailer, especially for that transformed William Birkin which doesn't even look finished if I'm being honest.

I'll go one further and say I don't love the cast.

Claire into conspiracies? She tells Chris about Umbrella? She used to live there? One trailer has her on the bike going there and another has her in the truck of the driver with the infamous burger? Chris and Claire meet in Raccoon before S.T.A.R.S. go to the mansion? Brad dies in RE1 events instead of flying his team back to the city? Leon just wants to leave without feeling like he was a prominent protagonist in the second game?
Why is Lisa Trevor doing the shush gesture?

I have way too many questions from these two trailers alone, and I doubt the movie will take the time to answer more than half of them properly, if any. And I doubt any of these changes are the least bit of value to the plot.

I see this more as a David Cronenberg material than Sam Raimi one, but I wouldn't mind seeing someone skilled enough to manage and merge both styles effectively adapting this franchise to film.

My issue is how low budget it feels which makes me sad cause a faithful RE adaptation with a proper budget would have been great to see.
