Here's why. Because each of these FPS franchises, which is what they are, are all unique and different enough to be sucessful in their own right. Nothing is ever going to kill these games because they are all very distinct, and distinct from one another. Even if you made an Halo Killer that out Halo'd Halo, if that were at all possible, you aren't going to kill Halo with it, not in this day and age wherre these types of games are so advanced. Each game offers its own unique 'world'. This isn't like the old days when mechanics were so rough on FPS console games that a game that did those mechanics better can really kill the previous king.
Halo is a world, it is a fiction, and it is very distinct fromthe other FPS games mentioned
Half Life is a world, it is a fiction, and it is very distinct from the other FPS games mentioned
Killzone is a world, it is a fiction, and it to is very distinct from the other FPS games mentioned
Resistance, same thing, even though it harkens to a lot of elements seen in some of the best FPS games ever made, ultimately it is apparently unique enough to stand on its own according to people who have played it.
Gears, same deal. (I got tired of typing)
No game is suddenly going to come out that is a 'killer' to any of these games because in this day and age of complexity in games a games sucess is determined by its own unique flavor, how well it's designed and plays, and the market conditions. You aren't going to kill Halo by offering people a clone that's 'better then halo' you just can't do that, because to create a good FPS that has popularity you have to offer a unique twist, something new to some degree, not just a clone of an already popular franchise.
These are all good games, these are all games that people are going to have preferences over, but they're all very different from one another, and none of them kills the other. The market is sort of past that kind of thing.
I expect a lot of lol Killzone posts
