^Dude Insomniac is right, this game definatley sets itself away from the pack of World War II/Sci-FI shooters we have now. I mean like Mr. Credible said the weapons are diffrent. Insomniac are genusis when it comes to creating new and innovative weapons.

I love how Resistance makes you choose the weapons wisely in combat and make sure you know the weakness and the advantages. I was set on playing this game on the hardest mode first time I play it just because I love challanges. However i'm getting the vibe from Resistance that hard mode is just for amazing people like God mode in God of War...Which I beat:D

This game is fantastic and I love the fact that it has so much replay value, I mean play the game after beating it on normal on the hardest difficulty and you'll get new enemies to fight, how awesome is that?

Whoa, supposedly IGN has said the PS3 is pushing 265 times the processing power of the PS2, is that even possible. If so, PS3 would be more powerful than the 360 would it not?

Asking a question in such a way that it makes it a statement. 'If so, PS3 would be more powerful than the 360 would it not?' has a clear message, "this makes it sound like the PS3 is more powerful than the Xbox360", despite the fact that the information he was given said nothing about that or even hinted at it, indicating that he lept there all on his own. Hence "where do you get this?"

Pretty simple.

Did you check out the IGN videos?

They're more impressive than the shots.

Thats still not saying much.

WTF? Is that Temuera Morrison I hear barking out orders in the video

The lighting model still sucks ass. Come on, no ambient lighting for the weapons' muzzle flash? If Splinter Cell running on a freakin' Xbox can do it, why can't Resistance? Oh and I love the "details" on the character models ( ). Just look at that big Chimera. As if we hadn't already seen better in the PC version of Doom III.

I don't think the lighting sucks ass at all. Just because it's not the glaring lighting featured in other games.

yeah, ign obviously had no bad feelings fowards the lighting... quite the opposite, actually, they sounded pretty impressed by it.

and ign's opinion > some internet guy's

Jeez man, I'm not talking about "glaring lighting". You know, when you fire your weapon, you expect the surrounding area to lit up as a result of the muzzle flash. You know, something like this:

Heck, even last-gen games like Doom III and Splinter Cell had it. And with the "265 times more power than the PS2", there is no excuse for Resistance not having it. Period.

Yes, and if IGN can't even figure out that F.E.A.R, a game more than a year older than Resistance has a better lighting model then they suck ass.

Firstly, Resistance looks better than that, as well it should.

Secondly, I don't think the lighting there is all that spectacular. It's far too bright. Resistance has much more natural, understated lighting.

Jesus, did you even play the bloody game?! F.E.A.R is a lot more darker than Resistance, having lots of shadows and contrast lighting. The extreme brightness you see in those pictures is a result of the muzzle flash of the guns. The game is not always that bright. Only when you fire the guns. Weapon muzzle flash lighting effects have been done in Doom III and Splinter Cell. Why can't Resistance, with "265 times the power of the PS2" have that as well? It's freakin' inexcusable.

Overdramatic much?

People are far too quick to dislike every aspect of this game.

When I have to repeat the same bloody thing three times in the same freakin' thread in the same ****ing hour, yeah I tend to get a little rowdy.

If previous gen games can do something Resistance didn't, then Insomniac should be ashamed. The fact that Doom III's Hell Knight model has more detail on it than that Chimera holding the soldier is pathetic.

I don't think they should be ashamed. They have a good looking game on their hands. It might not be the best looking game in the world, but it still looks good. I see nothing pathetic in that. Likewise, it's reported the game has fantastic AI, great weapons, and a stunning online mode. I see nothing pathetic in that either.

Friend, I'm talking about specifics, not the general picture. Their game looks decent, but if closer examination reveals a few details that have been done better by games that are 2-3 years older on much more inferior hardware, it's a valid ground for criticism.

^

I'd agree with that. We can't expect new games to better old games in every way possible. It's a lot to ask. It's natural some aspects may have been done better before elsewhere.

muzzle flash works the same as fire. you wont see it light up the environment in those conditions. they aren't going to have effects that aren't needed in the situations they are showing.

Yes, it's so "bright" in those pics that the soldiers' and Chimera's shadows can be seen on the ground yet the lighting effect of muzzle flash is non-existent. Heck, you can even see the shadows of their bloody guns is those pics. "Effects that aren't needed" my ass.

in bright sunshine you can see shadows and wouldn't see a muzzle flash light the environment. so your point is?

this isn't bright sunshine by any means but your whole point made no sense at all. if you can't see the difference between the conditions in fear or doom3 and resistance then that's your problem not mine.

Shooting off giant energy beams should result in shadows and lighting. Dont give me B.S that the sun is too bright.

HALF-LIFE 2 shows how lighting should be done.
