Well according to the poll Resistance: Fall of Man will be getting a 9/10.

& how many of those voting do you think know full details of prices & stuff :woot:

The Lizard, why don't you come to your senses?
You been out ridin' fences for so long now.
Oh, you're a hard one,
But I know that you've got your reasons.
These games that are pleasin' you,
Can hurt you somehow.

You know I wonder why no one started a thread on the PS3 Game Prices. I might as well do that

The poll has nothing to do with cost, but everything to do with game quality.

In the UK, games cost £40 new anyway, which is the equivalent of almost $80. High priced games are nothing new for us.

yeah but you could get them at £30. where as 360 games cost £40 at the cheapest for the average game and PS3 games are projected to cost £50. but then i remember cartridge games costing the same and one point. still too much. they need to lower the cost of development through intelligent means.

NEVER BEFORE, HAVE LYRICS BEEN USED TO BETTER EFFECT........EERILY APPROPO. WELL DONE, MY FRIEND. :D:up:

This is one of my friends who got to go to TGS lucky bastard and reported to me the Resistance demo, take a look it sounds like theres a lot more going on then meets the eye.

1. What would you rate the demo out of ten?

I would rate it a 9. As a follower of the game it was very expected what I was going to see but it feels really good when you see that the expected quality is there.
And the game was running really smooth and it shifted from a tight corridor run into this big open areas with a huge number of enemies and human soldiers fighting.

2. How hard is the game?

It seemed very hard though not insane. You have to be focused and you have to consider the weapons you need for each situation. For example, there was this stairs I was going down and confronting the enemies directly usually killed me so my tactics was to use the Auger through the stairs against them. Of course, the enemy was just as smart as well and started to do the same thing so I had to dodge burning bullets drilling up under my feet.

3. How were the weapons and what was your favorite one to use?

The weapons all felt good but the Auger is really cool. It has sort of the Ferrari look of guns and it kills really fast.

4. What are some of the things that the Chimera did that impressed you?

I really liked the group dynamic. You could see it at work where two-three Chimeras would stay in the middle of the room behind some cover where they just kept pumping bullets in your general direction. But while they were trying to keep your attention two armored Chimeras seemed to try to flank me from both the left and right which made my job really hard. They seem to really understand the environment and they even jumped down from 2nd floor buildings and they are really aggressive.

5. How big was the level you got to play?

The singleplayer demo actually consisted of three levels. First there was a orange looking outside area where you were fighting under a bridge I think in an upwards hill (the enemy having the higher grounds). After that you played a blue looking inside level which was more of a corridor type which eventually lead you to a elevator which took you to this big big hangar area with a lot of enemies, humans as well as the big Chimera titans. Much chaos. There was a third level as well though I didn't got to play it but it was a outdoors area where you had to fight a spider mech. I would have played it hadn't it been that I was given a 'fresh' demo each time so I always had to start from the first level (and only having 10mins you can only get so far).

6. Do you think Resistance plays better than Halo? <Do not flame i'm not into comparing them I just want to shut one of my friends up.

Resistance obviously benefits from being on a next gen platform but it is very polished and smartly designed and at release I would definitely expect Resistance to be the state of the art console shooter on all platforms (and stay that way at least until Halo 3 from what I've seen so far).

7. Did you get to see any new hero moments? Also did you get to save yourself from any cool first person views of Menials or Howlers?

Actually I didn't see any hero moments but maybe that was because I choose to play more of a loner and due to my supreme skill I fought my way through the enemy lines (though the difficulty on level 2 really increased quite a bit). I saw some menials but I hate getting frightened and jump so I just took them out first even though the others were shooting at me.

8. Whats the coolest thing that you did during the game?

Using the weapons in smart experimental ways was really fun. Throwing a Hedgehog around a corner before retreating and then see a bunch of spikes go past me was a kick. As well as owning people in multiplayer by getting the pesky humans out in an open field with my Auger in hand and when they think they have me with their oh so fine assault rifles I just pop up a shield and I'm the only one who is protected.

What's the Flame-Thrower's range? And could you describe the flames? (repeated ''clouds'' of flame or realistic flames?)

The range was quite long, I would reckon 15-20 meter in real life. The flames seemed totally realistic and not separated clouds but they didn't spread around like in Wolfenstein but seemed to burn off this fine line of fuel being pumped out.

is it worth getting? thats one reason y i may get a ps3

Unless Insomniac forgot to make more levels then definitely. It was very high quality.

So what do you guys think?

That looked ok, I liked the earlier videos better.
Looks kinda run of the mill now :o
But still decent.

Why the hell did the guy stuttered when he was asked about the languages and the disc space?

^I think Insomniac might not be allowed to share that type of information and can't say when they are shipping it because they don't want to get peoples hopes up in case they can't make it out for launch.

Oh and Gammy he was showing off the demo to the people who didn't get to play it, he just ran and gun its not how the game should be played. I loved it when he was up on the buildings and the leapers roll into battle, I thought that was amazing. Its also cool to see the Widow Maker easily make its way around obstacles. Very cool.

I'll tell you a little thing I loved....

One of the weird alien guys is about to shoot you or throw something at you, and you snipe him (in slo-mo) and the alien thing jerks back mid-animation, very realistic.

yeah, i caught that, too.

also, right before the video cuts off, he shoots a chimera while he's running, and he kind of keeps running while he dies until he just colapses... i can't think of how to explain it, but it looked pretty cool.

Looking at gameplay videos,, I'm not sure about how they have the stick sensitivity balanced, there seemed to be a great deal of micro ajustments with the people playing, instead of them using controlled strokes, a lot of people basically levelled their aim horizontally to the enemy then moved around a bit while firing away. Hopefully the devs get the balance right.

Then again people playing games at tradeshows tend to suck.

^Yeah thats what happened, it was the people from Japan attending TGS, Gametrailers said they were having problems controlling cause FPS are not big over there so they had a huge tutorial video Insomniac had to make for them to know how to play FPS :O

FPS games never sell well in Japan, still there were a number of non-Japanese people covering the event. I highly doubt they 'didn't know' how to play an FPS, just very many of them wouldn't be good at it because they never play them. :o

^Oh I was just referring to the game when it was being played hahahah on Gametrailers.

reminds me of time splitters style control actually. remember that in halo the enemies took their sweet time giving you plenty of time to aim i normally aim into a strafe anyway. then it's just keeping them tracked that matters. this game is so much faster and intense that it's going to be difficult to aim at times. but that is more like reality.
