i don't need to think i know more about this than you do. since you're using arguements based on a knowledge level far below mine. i might have made the same arguement when i was 12. so i understand the reasons you are saying what you are saying. visa versa can not be true.

you say "i lost the internet." lol. keep it. there's no prize to this arguement. you don't win anything but more knowledge. and since you've got little to give it's not much of a prize.

this is what fire looks like. just thought i'd let you know since it seems like you've never seen any. notice the shiney matterial, it's reflecting the fire. see anything on the concrete floor. no because it scattered the light.

Im out...

WHATEVER YOU SAY "DANALYS"... UNREAL 3.0 IS TOO SLOW TO HANDLE A FPS AND LIGHT CANT BE SEEN IN THE DAYTIME :o

ENJOY YOUR "FAR SUPERIOR" KNOWLEDGE

Its the default color that was set in photoshop. It looked pretty so i kept it ;)

Which brings up another problem that makes the whole thing look flat. The fire.

It lacks depth (HDR LIGHTING could have helped that out) It looks like its out of game from 5 years ago. Not NEXT GEN.

It looks a bit better here (but these are shots of explosions)... Still looks like someone drew the fire in with photoshop though.

Ah yes, I forgot about the HDR lighting part (heck, OBLIVION has HDR lighting and that game's nearly 6 months old now). It was always bugging me that the lighting wasn't the only thing that was wrong with the fire...

And we will have to see what they are doing at TGS as far as that is concerned. There is no reason to have lighting turned off in official shots for the game at this stage in development.

Turning it of during video presentations (if thats what they did) is understandable. They have framerate and things to consider.

Which was exactly my point in the first place.

Super Troopers: "Please no."

Anyways Insomniac has said that the HDR lighting has not gone in the game, the people at 1.up said that the pictures and stuff they have posted has truly been down graded:(

Riddick (Xbox) has better lighting than Resistance. :(

*faint, distant sounds of Lizard wailing in agony*

:D

Sheesh.

The intense Resistance hatred on this board is starting to get a little old. It really doesn't deserve it.

Way to take a picture in which the extinguisher foam obstructs the immediate area in which the light is reflected. But since you seem to be claiming that concrete does NOT reflect light, how do you explain this:

See that yellow tint on the road in the immediate area surrounding the fire? Try telling me that's not light being reflected off the CONCRETE.

Higher level of knowledge my ass.
1.bad photography. colour bleed. huge fire.
2.nightime shot. or heavily shaded shot. with the camera in the shade.

Okay guys, you seem to not realise something: fire is bright.

Like, this is scientific, alright? Fire burns, produces light, and all objects are subject to light, nothing is invisible. Even concrete walls.

You can't argue that fire doesn't produce light, even during the day. It does. It's visible on even the brightest days. Maybe you'll go to a barbeque sometime.

Yeesh.

You're forgetting dark matter. :p

Uh, so? Comparitively, the Resistance shot in question has very little sunlight in it and the area around the fire seems sufficiently confined to at least show some hint of reflection on the walls or the ground.

2.nightime shot. or heavily shaded shot. with the camera in the shade.

The Resistance shot in question has similar lighting as well.

fire isn't that bright really. the light from fire is miniscule compared to the light we get from the sun, be that from scattering in the atmosphere, bounching of the moon or directly. setting exposure levels with HDR, changes what is aparent in the scene, in a way similar to the way the eye or a camera does.

Hey did you guys notice that in this shot, each soldier has something diffrent on their back, they aren't all rendered the same. Talk about immersive.

Carry on with the fire debate.
