Resistance: The Fall of Man (threads Merged)

I got a cool resistance promo type thing in the mail from PS Underground today. It came in an old worn out envelope that said "Resistance: Fall Of Man" on it and had a newspaper with coffee stains and rips and stuff on it.

I finally tried this today at Best Buy, easily for like 15 mins.
I was willing to give the game a chance, but to be honest, it sucked.
Like, it was the most average thing ever. Ugh.
Oh, and the graphics are nothing to write home about, power of the Ps3 my ass

I know they just released a patch for it with a bung of tweaks.

Ressistance seems decent enough, I got to try a later level an it was pretty intense. Then I got to try the openign level and that wasn't nearly as good. So I guess the game gets better.

It does get tougher. I downloaded the patch for online, but then had to go play Halo 2

30 hours if thats meaty enough for you lol, Insomniac has stated this is the longest game they have ever made and Ratchet and Clank if played correctly is a good 21 hours.

So is this game actually 30 hours or is Lizard a *****etard?

Well I just picked up a PS3 today much to my surprise (my mall's Best Buy just got some in) and I also picked up Resistance as well. It's not incredibly difficult thus far but I love it. I love the weapons, the mood, the story, everything. Very addicting, going to try to limit my play a bit so I dont beat it too early because I'm not sure what game I want next besides Rainbox Six Vegas (March 07).

n00b to the thread, but i think that one's opinion of the game depends heavily on someone's opinion on the console. If you're a ps3 person, you'll love the game. If you're a wiitard, you'll think its borderline idiotic.

I'm both, so i gave the game a decent 8. It's pretty lame at the start, but the creativity of both the storyline and weaponry are quite intriguing. Only reason it isn't 8 out of 10 is because i'd liked to have seen more motion sensing. (Correct me if im wrong, but the only time the game senses motion is when you're being chewed on by those human looking chimera).

Looking at the HD trailer I'm pretty disappointed with the look of this game. The background details look pretty but this just doesn't appear to be a very fun game to play especially when compared to gears of war.

If you read the post later on I said that the length of the game changes due to the fact that it is harder. The game on normal should take you around 12-16 hours to beat if you watch all of the movies and play the levels and don't run through. But if you play the game on Superhuman than there are more enemies and they are a lot smarter..and I mean smart. Also if you run around and grab all of the intelligence documents and look for all of the easter eggs the game will take you about 30 hours but if not then 21 hours like it did for me.

But also it varies depending on how sweet you are at this game, i'm a level 53 out of 60 at this game so I think i'm actually pretty damn good. I love the online play for this game. It kicks major ass, 40 players is amazing and its so crazy because there is no lag whatsoever. I love it. Best game I have ever played next to a couple of others.

The game doesn't look as amazing as Gears of War but keep in mind Gears of War is a second generation game on a console that has been out for a year where Resistance is right out of the gate. Insomniac keeps telling everyone that they just scratched the surface of what the Playstation 3 can do. And with the way Resistance looks and if thats scratching the surface then mother of god I can't wait to see what the innards of the Playstation 3 has to offer. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Well its not just those guys, the Leapers will leap onto your face and then stab you through the head with their legs if you don't hit them off and the Howlers will pin you down to the ground and take a snap at you neck.

In Multiplayer though you have to shake the controller to stop yourself from burning when your on fire and to shake off a bullseye tag or the arc charger tag or the air-fuel grenade.

I agree though I wish there were a lot more motion sensing ideas to Resistance. But hey look at it this way this was Insomniac first first person shooter for almost ten years. They did one hell of a job imo and its going to get better. Now that they are back to their roots and now have this amazing game out on the market that can have many new ideas attached to it. Resistance 2 will be quite a feat.

Actually resistance probably looks better. But game design is not as good. It just looks like your standard first person shooter. There's almost nothing innovative about the look or gameplay. That kind of stuff has nothing to do with taking advantage of the graphics engine. Microsoft have done all the little things to make Gears fun from the look of the trailers.
