And IMO, its a really bad idea to give the Riddler a whole outfit. Maybe the hat and tie, and the cane, but a green suit wouldn't translate well in a Nolan movie

Totally agree with this. I think a full out Riddler outfit would not be fitting in this setting.

For one, (if we're going with the FBI specialist) if Edward is intentionally going for the whole Joker vibe with his supervillain persona in his ploy to entrap Batman. He opts out of the ugly-ass makeup but goes for the not-cheap green suit to complete the persona.

But The Joker can get away with wearing a flambyant, colourful outfits like that because he's The Joker, Nygma's not insane... At least not in the same way. Plus, it might seem a little like they're just going over old ground..

Eh? Man, Of all the different permutations and variations on The Riddler over the years ONE thing has been a constant; The Question Marks.
He doesn't even leave Riddlers in the comics anymore.

Black suit. Olive Green Overcoat. Brown Fedora Hat.

He has riddles painted in words across his coat. The riddles are ones he has used for his challenges and once the challenges and riddles are solved,he draws over them each with a big question mark,to symbolise Batmans completion and Riddlers failure. Riddler doesnt want to mark his coat,he wants it be left untouched and if Batman dies through Riddlers challenges,he will be pleased at his winning over Batman. The costume will be a symbol of Riddlers failure by the end,not the success he was hoping for. So it has a different origin and meaning to it.

This is like 2 years ago when Nolan announced that he'd do the Joker and people were saying that he shouldnt wear a purple suit because it wouldnt be realistic. Only this time its about the riddler.
Well if he dons a mask and creates an alter ego, why not be flamboyant about it? The riddler always wants to grab attention to himself so wearing a flashy suit suits him.

This would most likely be the start of the riddler so i don't think his costume should fully decked out with question marks...maybe he should gradually start to change his costume throughout the story so we can see that not only his appearance changes but his obsession with the idea of being a villain does as well?

...if your going for question marks i thought of an idea for the tie...instead of just having one big question mark on it why not put a whole bunch on it, like in some sort of pattern or design. If anybody has seen the new Omen movie remember the wallpaper in damian's room ha a design that formed 666 all over the room, i thought that was pretty cool. Maybe they could use that same technique with riddlers tie to make it look stylish yet he's got his symbol right there all over his tie.

actually i took it straight out of "the dark knight returns" comic. It set in future with Batman coming out of retirement. The Jokers gone on a killing spree and Batman's finally had enough of it. Its different because at this point the Jokers killed hundreds so its perhaps understandable whereas in my script its not too long after the events of TDK.

Fair enough. I was looking at the scene in relation to TDK and considering Batman saved Joker at the end of TDK, it did seem a little off.

Have random riddles written on his jacket,filled with question marks in the gaps. To symbolise his mystery,but as the movie progresses,we find out he WANTS to be caught. Not only is he a complete mystery to everybody else,but also to himself and he wants Batman to help him discover the mystery about himself.

You think its about competition,Riddler testing Batman to see if he is smarter than him out of jealousy,but in reality,its a test see if Batman is actually understanding and paying attention to Edward and if he is smarter than Edward to help him solve the riddle thats been haunting him for a long time, Questions that manifested into riddles and eventually drove him into obsessed madness.

As Batman gives his answer (psychological analysis),we find out he was already damaged before his psychotic break. He suffers from obsession compulsive disorder,but in his deluded mind,he believes he suffered from it when he first went mad. Hes had it since childhood,but repressed it when he had his psychotic break.
