Riots in Missouri - Part 1

I don't see that as being wrong at all. How you dress and present yourself to the world is your choice, but people are going to make judgements about it. I would like law enforcement to check up on suspicious activity, I don't know if there is a way to do that without profiling in some fashion. If someone is talking to themselves and dressed shabby I would like cops to take a second look at it even if it turns out to be just some guy who was coming back from a camping trip and talking on a blue tooth.

:doh::wall:

While I think this whole thing has gotten out of hand on both sides, I do hope something good will come of this.

Police in America have way too much power and not nearly enough oversight.

Yeah that's really not possible.

Charging you with resisting arrest because you asked for a cop's badge number?

First of all, what are you being arrested for originally? You can't resist arrest unless you are under arrest for something. You can't be under arrest for resisting arrest without an original reason for an arrest.

And if that ever happened, just go with it and when you have your day in court even the state appointed prosecutor will throw out the resisting charge if the officer only charged you with it because you "asked for his badge number"

and then I would immediately go file a complaint and a civil suit against the officer and his department.
Yes, because cops never make up charges to justify their actions. They never bust out tail lights, or tell people who aren't moving, to stop resisting. Nope, never happens. You know just like the journalist arrested this very month in Ferguson.

Heh. I remember a night years ago when a cop rolled up on me & some friends hanging out in front of one friend's house and threatened to arrest one guy for bouncing a basketball...:whatever:

I have had a few experiences with cops. They were all understanding and thoughtful but one. I will never forget him. He threatened to arrest my mother for talking. Not cursing, not yelling, just talking in his presence. It was one of the most bizarre things I have ever experienced.

John Crawford III, father of two, murdered by cops in Walmart for carrying an air pump bb gun he got in the toy section.

Surveillance video from an Ohio Walmart shows that a man fatally shot by police earlier this month had his back to officers and was talking on a cell phone, an attorney for the man's family says.

John Crawford III died Aug. 5 after Beavercreek police responded to reports of an armed man at a Dayton-area Walmart. Crawford was not armed -- he had a pellet gun with him, which he had picked up in the store's toy department.

Attorney Michael Wright said that the video, which he was allowed to view with the man's family, contradicts statements by police and witnesses that Crawford ignored commands to drop the gun and “looked like he was going to go violently.”

“John was doing nothing wrong in Walmart, nothing more, nothing less than shopping,” Wright said in a statement. He said the 22-year-old father of two was shot "on sight" in a "militaristic" response by police.

LeeCee Johnson, the mother of Crawford's children, was on the phone with him when he was shot. She told the Dayton Daily News:

"[The] next thing I know, he said ‘It’s not real,’ and the police start shooting and they said ‘Get on the ground,’ but he was already on the ground because they had shot him... I could hear him just crying and screaming. I feel like they shot him down like he was not even human.”

Every ****ing day it seems like cops are murdering someone somewhere in this country.

It does look like a real gun, but I thought they were sold in a box  Pellet guns aren't supposed to be left out to be played with. They are considered sporting goods item/ not toys. Walmart might be liable if they left it out to be played with.

I still don't get why people don't just comply. Witnesses said he refused to put it down. ????????? A lot of the times in these incidents the person killed would not simply follow orders.

To be fair, most outrage is reserved for when unarmed people are shot dead.

The witness clearly said that they shot him and then they told him to get down. Cops arent supposed to fire until they are threatened. The victim was on his phone and the gun was pointed at the ground. They were not threatened. And if they felt threatened perhaps they need to be in another profession that doesnt require them to have some fortitude.

Why they couldnt just taze him is once again the question of the day, or ya know just used some goddamn logic and common sense. The victim said it wasnt real. The cops had two guns on him. Even if he was lying and tried to raise the gun at them they could have dropped him before he got a shot off. Well, a competent shooter could have. And they could have confirmed it wasnt real simply by keeping a calm head and using common sense. BB guns have obvious features that real guns do not have. Instead they walked into that situation and saw a black man with a gun and in their racist ignorant minds he could only be up to one possible thing.

White people walk around this country open carrying every day. They open carry in my local walmart and restaurants. But it appears that if a black person so much as picks up something roughly in the shape of a gun they can be murdered by whatever ***** cop comes along afraid of "the scary black man."

This is a good point.

Heck, the militias who supported Clive Bundy directed loaded sniper rifles at the police and the police just walk away.

God I hate this crap. How are people suppose to trust cops? Feel safe? They are suppose to serve and protect, not murder people.

Did you even read the article? They shot him, and then told him to get down. Jesus, is this how we defend this stuff now? Ignoring what actually happened? This is how police get away with this stuff. It is completely excused by some.

And here is another example of cops being right and righteous.

Autopsy report shows Louisiana police lied about suspect’s suicide by shooting self in back

An autopsy report released this week cast further doubt on a police officer’s claim that a suspect committed suicide by shooting himself while handcuffed in the back of a police cruiser, reports KATC.

According to the first page of the official autopsy report released by the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office, Victor White III, 22, died from a gunshot to the chest, not in his back as reported by the arresting officer.

White was arrested by State Police in March of this year on narcotics charges and, according to authorities, was handcuffed, with his hands behind his back, in the back seat of a police cruiser when he refused to exit the vehicle for processing. According to the police report, the arresting officer went to get help and when he returned he found White critically wounded from a gunshot wound to his back.

Police believe that White had somehow hidden a gun in the backseat of the cruiser and committed suicide by shooting himself. White died shortly after, with police stating there were no surveillance cameras in that area of the parking lot where the car was parked.

Questions were immediately raised as to how White could have smuggled a gun into the cruiser and then managed to shoot himself in the back when left alone.

According to the autopsy report, the bullet entered White’s chest, perforated his left lung and heart before exiting his armpit area and lacerating his upper arm.

The report still lists his death as a suicide.

Admitting that the case is still being investigated, State Police Master Trooper Brooks David said that state troopers originally did believe the gunshot entry wound was in White’s back.

No explanation was given for how White could have shot himself in the chest with his hands cuffed behind him.

A few bad apples? Yeah, no. And to think they thought they could get away with this. This is why many do not trust the police. Because they literally think they can get away with murder.

Did YOU read?
police and witnesses that Crawford ignored commands to drop the gun

Whether or not they say now that the video contradicts, the fact is that witness accounts were that he was told to drop the weapon and did not comply.

What weapon? He didn't have a weapon. This man was literally shot dead for doing nothing wrong. Literally. And yet people defend it.

And do you not see the contradiction in your own statement? If the video contradicts the witnesses, that is the facts. Whatever reasons the witnesses might be wrong or lying, if the video shows differently, that is what matters. Because that is unequivocal fact.

I bet you don't even want to touch the story I posted above.

I haven't seen the video so can't make a judgment. It's definitely wrong if he was acting like it was a real weapon to freak people out though.

Yeah,if you are black you better have all your **** in order, like I.D. up to date, unexpired tags, the whole nine. Yeah, this is stuff you should have in place by default, but I suspect white guys get the benefit of the doubt if some of their **** is out of wack.

The Daily Mail’s summation of the story’s new arc puts a whole new spin on Mr, Crawford’s ballistic bad end. It also tells us something very important about anti-gun true believers – some of whom have promised to call 911 whenever they see someone practicing open carry. Malicious intel can kill:
The drama unfolded on Tuesday night after a witness at the scene told a 911 dispatcher that a man with a rifle was near the pet supplies section and appeared to be loading a firearm.
‘There is a gentleman walking around with a gun in the store. … He’s, like, pointing it at people,’ the witness said . . .
Authorities say a customer also died after suffering a medical problem during the evacuation of the store Tuesday. Police identified her as Angela Williams, 37, of Fairborn.
An update from abcnews.go.com adds a little more depth to the ‘toy gun’ claim.
A man who was fatally shot by police in a Wal-Mart store in a Dayton suburb after officers say he waved a weapon at customers was carrying an air rifle, Ohio’s attorney general said Thursday.
Attorney General Mike DeWine released a brief statement after the state’s crime bureau said it had taken over the investigation of the shooting at the request of Beavercreek police. Police had said John Crawford, 22, waved a rifle at customers Tuesday night and was fatally shot when he wouldn’t drop the weapon. DeWine said the man had a “variable pump air rifle” made by Crosman Corp.

Sound like another person acting like an idiot in a walmart. Getting a kick out of scaring people with what looks like a real rifle, and HAS been modified to fire real bullets by some owners of it before. Buy what you need and leave. People act like it should be normal to act trashy cause... it's walmart.

Yeah, if I was black, I would probably try to avoid police.

It is so sad because it is so true. Yet some people want to act like it is the figment of other people's imagination.

If you flip out on officer and don't cooperate it's not going to end well regardless of race.
