The Winter Soldier Robert Redford offically joins Cap:TWS

Anyone else thinking that Redford might be, in essence, Norman Osborn? Obviously he cannot play Osborn, but I could see him serving as the stand-in villain for Osborn's role and establishing H.A.M.M.E.R., which will lead into a Dark Reign type of story in Phase 2, which will ultimately bring about the Age of Ultron (Ultron being created as a way for H.A.M.M.E.R. to maintain its control but quickly growing beyond their control)...

Also, if H.A.M.M.E.R. is playing a role in Phase 2, that can explain what is going on with Kingsley. Rather than the Mandarin being the puppet of Aldrich Killian, he could be the puppet of H.A.M.M.E.R.. Basically their go-to super villain, used to keep the masses afraid and dependent.

And if they're going to name it H.A.M.M.E.R., they should bring back Justin Hammer.

That's him, it's clearly Frank Grillo at the beginning. Now we just need shots of Sharon and Batroc, and also Maria Hill.

There is a brief shot of Maria. She's standing next to Cap and Widow when they're watching Fury in the OR.

I dont know if there would be room to develop that enough. Since Cap is the last earth based marvel film before Avengers 2. Itd be a short lived Dark Reign. lol

Funny, this thought had just recently occurred to me as well.

Or introduce Justine and Sasha Hammer.

And MC Hammer!

Don't forget Jack Hammer.

*I'll get my coat*

Wouldn't it be something, though, if Pierce is neither Skull, or Lukin, or Zola, or Zemo?

Maybe he's just plain old Alexander Pierce, only older, ginger, and now a villain.

Well, it's definitely not Strucker, seeing as the news of his involvement is directly linked with news Marvel is trying to cast him.

Yeah, having Redford narrate the first trailer was a great idea.

My current guess is that MCU Alexander Pierce will be an amalgam of his comic counterpart and Aleksander Lukin.

I'm very new to Marvel comics having really only been introduced to them via the movies, so I hope I'm not going to say something stupid, but here's how I see it possibly coming together.. Either

A Pierce is a man with an dubious moral compass, in a similar way to Killian in IM3 he is trying to use a engineered 'war on terror' setup to justify actions. He's using Armin and TWS to do this, but his misguided although patriotic plans are then hijacked by a villain who's been hiding in the background all along.

Or..

Basically the above again, but Pierce is the bad guy all along, and the reveal is that he isn't patriotic at all and has a much more nefarious intention for 'war on terror' - like building up his own personal army.

I'd agree that there are many aspects to what I've written that we've seen before, but there'll definitely be a few other surprises in there too!

This is pretty much what I was gonna say, wasn't sure if it's been mentioned before. Probably has been though many times. But Redford's character could totally be the same idea as Lukin's. Could be a way for them to reintroduce Red Skull also somehow if they wanted to. Just like in the comic.

how would the skull survived this long? the movie version does not have the super soldier serum in his bloodstream

Well we don't know that he's dead, last we saw of him the cube was basically teleporting him into a wormhole. I'm just throwing ideas around trying to think of what they could adapt from the comic arc that's all haha.

Yeah. He's just as powerful as Cap, only uglier.

Was about to say. Its not like we have any evidence for Steve aging; for all we know, the Serum greatly extends lifespan. And that's assuming nothing else weird happened.

What if the Tesseract teleported him to the Collector? :wow: :woot:

Q: You have any scenes with Robert Redford?

Evans: Yeah, it was great. I was so nervous the first day. Within the first few minutes I was like, thank God. He's the nicest guy in the world. And it's not like he can't direct. He could have easily come on board and made it his set. He just didn't do that. He has immense respect. We shot like a 15-hour day, the Russos love their coverage, and he had minimal lines. And he could have left and [let someone else read the lines]. But he didn't do it, he stuck around and did off-camera for me. He's just classy. He classes up the whole project.
