Robin Hood Reboot: Avengers Style

I dont think they are shooting for period or historical accuracy, sort of like King Arthur: Legend of the Sword using the Snatch/Lock Stock montage bits.

I’m surprised they didn’t make this move and Arthur: Legend of the Sword some part of a cinematic universe.

And is Ben Mendelsohn the new Christopher Waltz? He’s the villain in everything now.

Mark Strong can be the Guy of Gisborne to Mendelsohn's Sheriff.

Where’s my Mark Strong/Waltz/Mendelsohn team-up movie?

That's actually a decent idea for a movie. Get a bunch of the guys typcast as villains. Oldman, Strong, Mendelsohn, Waltz, etc. Like The Expendables except you know...good

Robin Hood is now a ****ing 1970s sci-fi parable.

I like the outfit, but it's wrong for this film. His coat is way too modern. His whole outfit looks like something from a futuristic or modern story. Not something in a medieval story.
LOL it's not just his outfit, check the weapons.

It looks like repeating crossbows and maces on in the style of submachine guns and police batons, on top of armor and helmets designed to look like archaic riot armor.

The Sheriff looks like he just got back from a meeting at Nottingham, Inc.

I do fear that this thing's budget and expectations is too high for the subject. You can do crazy costuming and modern-style counterpoints, but you need to gradually and economically build up the appeal of the property.

I want that cast for Smiley’s People.

Robin Hood meets Mad Max in the post-apocalyptic year of 2118.

This looks terrible.

Hollywood should really stop trying to make Robin Hood and King Arthur happen.

Looks terrible. Mendlesohn looks like some sort of Blade Runner Jedi Master. And although I like him as an actor, why is Hollywood suddenly making him the villain in everything?

Star Wars pretty much ramped up his typecast.

Way too modern.

They’re should stop trying to make grim and gritty, Batman Begins Arthur and Robin Hood happen.

A traditional take has all you need.

I thought he was a good King George in Darkest Hour.

I think he’s the first actor I’ve seen play George VI to actually resemble the guy.

People said the same about CBMs. Do more I say.

Comic books and Robin Hood are two different things. You can argue about the archetypes, the influences in culture, and heroism, but on a surface level, you’re talking about folklore from hundreds and hundreds of years ago. There isn’t a demand for more movies like these..you don’t see kids wearing Robin Hood PJs unless it’s the Disney Fox version...and if you’re gonna start rebirth of this genre, then do it right.

What happened to the Death Troopers? :o

Honestly rather than this gritty medieval take or a light hearted traditional take, I'd rather someone do a sci-fi futuristic robin hood film. Full blown space opera robin hood with aliens, alien planets, and everything. It can be fun and lighthearted and yet be a genuinely new take on the old tale.

I can’t help but feel Egerton is miscast here. Robin Hood might be the most miscast character in modern film history. Costner (too American), Crowe (too bloody old) and now Egerton (yeah, I know he’s almost 30 but he looks like he’s 16).

Also, whoever the costume designer is on this movie should never work again.

"Full blown space opera robin hood with aliens, alien planets, .....genuinely new take on the old tale"?
Well, almost "new"!
Set it in space and add rocket powered quivers and they may have something!

They are somewhat working on that too- http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=328015
