RoboCop’ Returns

This is another series that I want to get into, but it is not on Netflix, Prime, Hulu... in fact, not even on television. I have only watched the 2014 film, which I thought was pretty good, but would like to see the original films.

Just watch the first one. Don't bother with the sequels.

First one's perfection. I really enjoy the second and don't think it deserves the hate it gets... Ignore the third one and everything else.

I hate the second one just as much as the third one. I don't get the "free pass" it gets from a lot of people.

How long can one guy live off one good movie?

Let Robocop be, the reboot from 2014 was the definition of mediocre
Iron Man made this concept obsolete

I never saw the third one but didn’t it have ninjas in it? What was with the obsession with shoehorning ninjas into everything in the early 90s?

I don't know, but in my opinion Elysium was just as good. Chappie was a minor misstep, but the hate Neill Blomkamp gets is undeserved.
Really looking forward to his Robocop sequel.

I don't hate the guy but it seems to me that every sci-fi reboot or re-imagining people bring up this guy when he IMO has only one good movie and the was D9

but I'm coming from a place where He should be doing original stuff like D9
and stop worrying about movies and concepts nobody is requesting

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Wu-Tang Clan

I'm requesting more Robocop and especially if continuing the original films. 2 and 3 aren't nearly as good as the first but they have it's fun moments.

The reboot is mediocre but not terrible and still better than 2 and 3. I kinda find the mini series films/shows underrated

Like Terminator, I also wish Hollywood let RoboCop be.

Yeah, I kind of agree. I didn't hate the remake they did a few years ago but it wasn't good. I just don't think anyone will ever be able to recapture the satirical style of the original.

Robo can't be turned into a franchise like John Wick by doing the same thing over and over.

It needs to expand in a subversive way. Robo 2 had scenes like that with reprogramming and some other stuff, but then it forgot everything it tried to be and reduced to senseless 30-minute violent carnage.

Subversive is super-risky. It means destroying what people hold dear and rebuilding it into something new. Not only it's impossible to do by the numbers, it needs every element to work in tight synergy. You can easily end up in tasteless, uneven, inconsistent, brash and off-putting territory. Or, if you ignore the essence, in very sterile, uninspired and overproduced work that leaves no taste whatsoever.

So has Robo been active all these years or was he shut down years ago and is making a big return?

If they follow Neumiers ideas Robo is decommissioned and in storage in a warehouse.

Wouldn’t the flesh start to rot? Or is he cryogenically frozen?

Hopefully he gets to pick his replacement.
