Days of Future Past "Romeo & Juliet Return?": The Official Jean Grey/Cyclops Debate - Part 2

Yeah he doesn't need that, but an update and altered version of that costume I would be happy with

It would be so so so G-R-E-A-T if they use these costumes for Jean in X-MEN Apocalypse.:hrt:

I just don't know how could they pull off those costumes.

Even if the Jean that we will see in the next movie already has Phoenix powers, I just don't see her suddenly wearing an outfit like that.

Personally I don't think those costumes are anymore ridiculous than that bizare trenchcoat/corset combo she was wearing in X3.

I kinda liked that  I think it fitted good with all the dark phoenix and the wind around Jean.

Well, At least it didn't have an image/silhouette of a bird.

The phoenix in that trenchcoat wasn't really noticable. I only noticed it when I watched a featurette about the costumes in X2. And Jean only wore it for the Nightcrawler scenes, amirite?

yes, you are right. It was just a hint or easter egg.

The problem with X3 costume is there was no explanation why she chose it and where she got it.

Magneto could have given it to her. I didn't really mind it since it didn't look so outlandish.

Magneto asked Scarlet Witch to give Jean something to wear :o

Why does it need explanation? Most times super heroes just wear a new costume without one and its perfectly acceptable. It was a red trenchcoat, nothing extravagant or out of the ordinary maybe outside of the color.

I found it weirder she wore a corset outside of her trench coat.

awwww, that is sooo cute. Cant wait to see young scott and jean, and in costume

X3's costume was badass, it gave her a distinct look that showed she had separated from the X-Men and was on her own. Too bad they stopped developing her after she killed Xavier.

I like it too. Though I think that is the one time that a more comic accurate costume would have been appropriate like this one:

As far as Jean's X3 Phoenix costume, someone gave it to her. It's that simple.

Magneto treated Jean like a symbol of mutant revolution. He dressed her appropriately.

I didn't find it that complicated.

Why would she wear a costume though? What she wore in X3 was more practical. I also didn't care for the exposition which revealed her alter ego as "The Phoenix". Why would she choose that identity? It would have made more sense to refer to herself as the The Phoenix after she returned...

Jean's X3 costume doesn't work for me because it can't decide whether it wants to be a superhero costume or something realistic and believable. And it kind of fails on both fronts. As a costume its too boring and uninspired, especially compared to the picture above of Jean's comic book outfit. As a realistic outfit it doesn't work because the all red colour scheme is too cartoony, the corset over the trenchcoat looks silly and no woman in her right mind would go out wearing something like this in the real world.

I found Juggernaught's costume to be the same. They tried to pull off being both realistic and comic-booky and the end result just looked silly.

^Agreed.

Why would she wear what she did end up wearing? That makes as much sense as a more comic accurate one would have.

Because what she wore was essentially just a red dress...not a skin tight spandex body suit with a yellow bird on her chest. That would have been as natural as putting on a spider-man outfit.
