If you guys want to discuss the Raimi movies....go to the proper thread.

So we can't compare the Amazing Spider Man 2 to any of the Rami films while discussing wheather we liked or disliked the movie?

honestly i have noticed alot of positive and optimistic people post less these days and its just negative posts these days, i can kinda understand why because i'm starting not want to come on here much because its just the same old people ripping the film to pieces

well i can't get my view across if i ain't allowed to mention raimis films as an example

Considering this is a thread for discussing THE ROTTEN TOMATOES SCORE for the movie THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2......there is no reason to mention the Raimi films....so apparently you don't have a valid view to mention anyway.

This thread is for discussing THE ROTTEN TOMATOES SCORE......if you want to discuss whether you liked it or not go to one of the threads dedicated to that discussion.

Alright fair enough

Well, if you can justify as to why you think it's a badly made film, then it can be percieved as a badly made film.

I could just as easily pick out the flaws of (for example) TDK. Obviously they aren't a numerous as ASM2.

The score on Rotten Tomatoes has dropped to 70% now. I wonder will it go into the 60's.
I think it's going to be fluctuating all week now. I'm just waiting to see where it settles when about half the reviews are in. Half should be about 140-150 reviews.

So, if we were to compare the RT scores of ALL the Spider-Man movies (both the Webb AND Raimi films), and give our own personal opinions as to why critics may have favored some movies and/or aspects of some movies in comparison to TASM2, then that's no good?

If that's the case, then might I recommend just posting updates of the RT score for TASM2 with no discussion at all?

Yes....you can recommend it.

The trends of Europe/Asia vs the USA always sees the score come down.
When ASM2 would in the 70's it was always going to get knocked down to the 60's.
Cap being one of the few superhero movies that has escaped this thread.

So i think my prediction of 74% is in jeopardy now. Im hoping we get an influx of positives before this gets hammered.

The top critics have it at 38% and most of them have not reported in yet. This film will be VERY LUCKY to even keep a fresh ranking with it trending so badly and almost 200 more reviews to go. And given it's lackluster performance overseas where critics and audiences tend to be less judgmental on the particulars as long as the story can be entertaining, then you have to believe it's going to hit the wall hard here in the states. Personally I think it was a HUGE mistake to release this movie two and three weeks early overseas. All the major plot points were leaked, many by this site on the thread titles, so allot of the enthusiasm for this film is diminished. It's kind of like watching a slow motion train wreck. Sony has made every conceivable miscue in the process, so now we have to see how badly this derails.

Looks the confidence that they (Sony) were reported to have had about this movie was actually overconfidence.

I was predicting a few weeks ago (after the first few RT reviews were posted) that this movie was going to probably end up in the high 60s to low 70s percentile rating on the Tomatometer. At this rate (already at 70%), it looks like TASM2 is going to struggle to keep a fresh rating, period. I honestly was not expecting this.

Agreed.

I think they were seduced with how much money the last movie made overseas for the USA was an after thought, were as this time around they would have been better doing a worldwide release like SM1.

Or the movie tested very well, they were legitimately happy with the movie and it turns out that the critical reaction is not what they expected it to be?

WOM for now definitely seems to be better than TASM.

The Hobbit sequel supposedly had better word of mouth than the original and that didn't stop it from making less than the original.

If my brother is any indication of the GA, he thought ASM was lackluster so wasn't bothered to see ASM2.
When ASM2 leaves theaters maybe it will find an audience on DVD/BR where people are more open to giving movie a chance.

Hence "overconfident".

Eerily similar to what Warner Bros thought of Batman & Robin before that film came out. They also had Schumacher signed for another installment and even had a working title. I'm always cynical of studios who plan too far ahead. You better know what's in the bank before you start writing new checks.

a couple of journalist on twitter said that the movie was testing very bad like low 20s so unless they made some major changes I think sony must seen this coming

You should be cynical. Sony, Warner Brothers or any studio can plan whatever they want to but if things don't work out they don't work out.

It's too early to tell whether Sony's (and especially Warner Brothers) plans will work out. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 needs to be well liked by moviegoers and very successful at the box office in order to successfully launch this cinematic universe.

We will see. Not many so far, but the top critics could be brutal.

But there were rumors circulating that Sony were really happy with the movie. That could have just been to increase hype though.
