Drama Royal Pains

Yeah, it was. The love interest got kind of snotty, but otherwise it was cool. The intro is nice, too.

The hospital administrator chick. She was in a snit at the party and got all obnoxious to that cool kid that Hank hangs out with.

I broke down and gave this series a shot. It's good. Likeable characters with a decent premise. Glad it's only 13 eps because I doubt it could hold a regular 22 episode order.

The first episode was great. The whole sequence where he lost his girlfriend was good.

Oh snap, his girlfriend was a giant *****e, too. Maybe Hank just likes that b****y edge to his women... ;)

Yeah, she definitely has some deep anger towards rich people.

Which makes sense seeing that she's a local. She sees all these rich people coming in and out, and they all treat the townsfolk as their servants and underlings, which they usually are.

I liked the 2nd episode as well. This show's clever. Not "Burn Notice" clever yet, but it's Rogue Medicine vs. Rogue Spy, so BN has a huge advantage in that regard.

Yeah, it does make sense, but she just lumped the poor kid in with all the other rich *****ebags without really noticing that he's not a bad person, he just happens to have a rich father.

Well, she was drunk and feeling hateful. We all know how women can be in either state (logic flies out the window). Now combine them...:woot:

Yeah, I liked her again by the end of the episode. I want to see more of the assistant, too. Two episodes in and we hardly know her.

those two 16 year olds crack me up. they act like a middle-aged couple already. lol

Anybody notice the inconsistency in the script this week? The mother stated talking about how she wants her son to play at USC (great football program btw) and for some reason in the latter part of the episode it changed to Notre Dame (crap team). Looks like whoever wrote the episode is no football fan and just kinda inserted team name without really thinking about it ... or even going back to edit so they were talking about the same school throughout.

It's not a mistake. In the beginning, she said that he just made a commitment to Notre Dame and needs to be in perfect condition because USC hits harder than her daughter and nephews.

Wait. Some people like Royal Pains... but not Burn Notice?

Do they know that Royal Pains is pretty much Burn Notice?

It's like how the Mentalist is Psych... only with less straying from the original besides changing the genre.

Royal Pains is Burn Notice, without the cool spy stuff, gun fights, explosions, and Bruce Campbell. (But that's not saying that 'Royal Pains sucks')

It does sound like it... but I really like Royal Pains. Although it needs to stay away from characters like the mother from this last episode...

I like it too. I hope we learn a bit more about the characters, though. We've had built-in means of learning more about characters in every other USA show--flashbacks in Psych, Mike having to learn how to relate to his mother again in Burn Notice, Monk's therapy sessions, etc.--but Royal Pains doesn't seem to have anything like that built in. I'd specifically like to know what the deal is with Divya's family.

There will probably be a future episode with a medical emergency at Divya's home... and her family sees Hank and her solve the problem and save a life, all while learning the problems her family has... but at the end, they all learn a little about themselves and a lot about love.

I'm just confused about her family. I mean, traditionally, the Indian family subplot tends to be that the parents push the kid too hard and demand too much because, in fact, a lot of Indian parents are like that in real life. But what the hell could her parents really want from her that they're not satisfied with her clearly excellent skills in medicine, the holy grail for parents everywhere? I doubt they're ultra-conservative, since Divya changed into a pretty and somewhat revealing sun dress for her family thing in this week's episode.

Maybe it is that her parents are rich, and they don't want her working at all?
