RPG Seasonal Rotation Thoughts

Is a 'seasonal' rotations for RPG's an idea that should be pursued in deep thought?

  • Yes! Let's do it!

  • Gawd no! You think I'd do something different?

  • Hmm...maybe but here are my ideas....

I think this is a great idea. Just minimizing the overlap between seasons would be worth it.

Although I wouldn't mind seeing Zombie moved to the 3rd timeslot for purely selfish reasons (because I'm on OU and DC and wouldn't have to do more than one RPG at a time ;)).

We'll see. ;) Also, Wieg, PM coming your way.

All I know is what keeps players from joining RPGs is commitment. Too many RPGs at once will keep people from being in more RPGs. If all the RPGs are in these seasonal rotations, players will have the oppurtunity to play in no more than 5 at a time, and this will increase the number of members involved. I know there are RPGs I want to be involved in but are too busy to do so. With this rotational stuff, I will be able to join more RPGs.

I don't think all the RPGs should even be on the rotational schedule (aside from the obvious ones like RPL).

Aside from the ones that are obvious with how active they have been, RPGs that have a slim chance of going to the next Season should be exempt til they hit next Season.

On the contrary, if they are on the rotational cycle and no one still plays them, we'll know for sure it is dead, and it can be removed from the cycle and deamed dead.

But they're the RPG's which overlap the most.:dry:

Exempting them would kill the point of this idea.

Would it be so bad if each of the big three ran for six months, but only two at a time overlapped?

Something like DC runs Jan-June. Marvel runs July-Dec. OU could run April-Sept. Which, now that I think about it, means only one is running during the first/last three months of the year.

Because there is controversy over the three big ones, what if they each run for 4 months or so at a time. This would cause the begining of each season (Only talking Marvel, DC, and OU) to coincide with the end of one of the three's for a short period of time.

Four months is a short time for the amount of stuff that gets completed in a Season.

True. Did we ever decide how long each cycle was? Cause my whole point was extend it a month for the three big ones.

I... Think I may have had an idea similar to this that was shot down instantly.

Uh, guys? When twy was introducing this idea...it wasn't like "for so and so months, these RPGs run" it was more like..."hey, these certain RPGs would have this amount of gap between their own seasons". Whoever said anything about "this group will have this long of a season, etc etc"?

She asked for opinions, so she's getting them. :cmad:

Byrd hates everyone. It's when he starts liking you should get concerned.

I'm not in any of the 'Big Three' RPGs so this kinda concerns me, I'm gonna have jack **** to do for a month or so before I can continue with, say, Ultimate Marvel. Hmmm, maybe I just dont like change full stop.

Quick question:

How would we work new/revived RPGs into the rotation schedule?

Probably depending on when their first season starts (or there's an available time for it to start).
