RUMOR: Superman game in the works

It must be annoying when you’re trying to promote your game and everyone thinks it’s something else. Even if you’ve put a lot of work into it and it’s a genuinely exciting idea everyone is sad because they wanted superman
True. Need to drop more hints in that case!

After finally seeing what the Superman game was supposed to look like and hearing the first version of the game was supposed to me more like Marvel's Spider-Man (until WB said to make it more like Arkham). I am very disappointed that this game wasn't released.

Making a Superman game should NOT BE THIS HARD. Jesus Christ, they're all morons over there at WB.

I don't care if Superman has a health bar goddamn it!

You know what would be a fun way to introduce a superman game? Starting out as a young Clark Kent in smallville when you’re in the tuition stage. That would be so much fun

This game should've happened. Huge missed opportunity. Although I won't give up hope that maybe on the next gen we'll see something with superman

Was this meant to be a Rocksteady game?

I think a modern Superman game is just hard for devs to wrap their heads around.

I mean look how much Rocksteady struggled integrating the Batmobile into Arkham Knight. Like everyone wanted the Batmobile. They put it in, and it sort of became the majority of the game.

Did you not like the Batmobile in Arkham Knight? I thought they handled it pretty well to be honest, after 3 previous games of similar gameplay I think it introduced a nice breath of fresh air to stop the gameplay maybe getting a little stale.

Although to be honest, even with no Batmobile, I'd personally have still been entertained with the same gameplay, just new story.

No I didn't. I feel like we were cheated out of some great boss fights in order to use the Batmobile. We had a sequence we had to stealthily use a tank to sneak up behind other tanks to find weaknesses on other thanks. We had another sequence where we had to dodge the drill tank. We had the Riddler tracks. It was too much. They basically built all the major game moments around the Batmobile.

You catch Deathstroke with the Batmobile. You catch Firefy with the Batmobile. You beat Arkham Knight with the Batmobile. It got tiresome. Not to mention, if you really want to make Batman's job harder, using unmanned tank drones makes no sense.

I think the extent of the Batmobile basically should've been using it as a means of fast travel and also clearing out thug mobs, maybe a few combat encounters. Maybe a couple boss engagements or battles. Like the chopper battle and maybe one other boss battle with the Batmobile maybe would've been fine.

But here's another example. When you're defending GCPD, that battle is basically identical to the battle where you're defending Ivy's plant, or the battles where you defuse the bombs with the Batmobile. It was highly repetitive. They just add more tanks or missile firing drones.

Like when I think about the Batmobile, I don't think tank battles. I think Batman's cool ride. I think chases. This was not smart integration of the Batmobile IMO.

I agree with some of your points regarding the bosses & use of the vehicle. The 'stealth' Batmobile elements were pretty silly overall I thought considering the sheer size of the thing & to your point about wasted boss fights, the biggest one I can remember being irritated with was the Deathstroke one & it was purely on the basis that I loved the Deathstroke boss fight in Arkham Origins because he was adaptive of the attacks you were using on him. The Shivia one was also good from Origins from memory.. both involved achievements that I spent a while trying to get. :D

The Firefly one I didn't mind because if I recall wasn't it basically you chasing him around the city on his jetpack? Until you get close enough to taze him or shoot him down. That one was fine IMO.

The Riddler tracks & trophies I personally loved on my 2nd playthrough I went for them all, I get those are personal preference though because I know a lot of people didn't like the Arkham City Riddler stuff because some of them required intricate gliding.

You do come across the Arkham Knight a couple of times, I think he's the one in the drill tank if I'm not mistaken but his 'boss' fight isn't in the Batmobile. It's a stealth room & he's on one of the gargoyles with a sniper & a bunch of sensors/traps/henchmen everywhere if I recall.

I get your overall point(s) though that you were burnt out with the vehicles reliance & use in the story.

The thing with Arkham Knight in the tower wasn't a legit stealth boss fight. The Arkham Knight fight with Mr. Freeze is a stealth boss fight. The Arkham Knight one was just a stealth room with a couple minor variations.

Imagine how many fun Easter eggs they could include. It would be so much fun

The talk of the problem with making a Superman game is he's "Too powerful" and it would get boring or what not is a bit silly to me. Like so what lol

I would absolutely pay $60 + to play as Superman complete with all his godly powers set in a sandbox open world. We'll get it at some point.

We have a game like that already. Superman Returns on Xbox 360 and PS2. It wasn't very good but the city was huge and flying was fun.

I know, but somehow I feel it being done on a next gen console with some updated tweaks could make it even better.

I know the name of the game is to make a profit, but I think they can pull it off if they do a one off and not try to make it a series unless it develops naturally into that.

Thats aside, do we realistically think we will ever get a Superman game, ever?

I hope we do eventually. Theres a body of work out there now that show you how to make a good superman game imo. What I love about that concept art is the scale of the city.

Yeah I'm trying to think I know you come face to face with him a handful of times & he ambushes you 2 or 3 times, however I don't think he ever actually has a 'fight' per say were you get your hands on him, until that moment.. but even still it's all cutscene. What precedes it is just a more difficult stealth room.

Let's get real though, the Superman Returns game was nothing but an attempt to further cash in on the movie & it's license. It seemed like a title with next to no effort put into it much like the Batman Begins, Captain America & X-Men Origins: Wolverine games to name but a few.
