Rumored Marvel Reboot: Discussion

In Japan they pretty much give you a magazine with some 10 different issues of different series in 200 pages total for just 3 dollars, some of the prices pulled by Marvel and DC are realy exagerated.
Most Manga are also Black and White

With a few color pages in every 200 pages magazine, which usualy ammounts to more than 20 pages, the same number in most comics without counting advertisement.

Hmmm, it seems that the article thinks that Marvel has continuity issues like DC had which led them to do Crisis on Infinite Earths. I disagree. Marvel's issues are not with continuity. Their problems go way beyond that.

All this doomsaying about a Marvel Crisis has been going on for ages. Someone will look at an event and present it as likely 'evidence' that Marvel's rebooting, as if they're the first person to come up with that idea. It's tiresome.

If it does happen, which seems unlikely, I'd probably end up scaling back to just Thor because, frankly, I've tried to set aside "my versions" of the characters and try new ones at DC and it just didn't work. So, worst case scenario, a Marvel Crisis would save me a lot of money.

Ordinarily I don't get into the "Zomg reboot timez" hype, but damn this feels like they are building up to that, with all the old storylines and alternate continuities being dredged up. And, you know, Hickman's been referencing the Crisis for pretty much his entire Avengers run.

Whether this would be a good thing or not, I have no idea.

I don't think there is necessarily going to be a reboot, but maybe instead several Marvel universes are about to destroyed and certain characters enter the 616? Based on what's going in Hickman's Avengers, all the time travel stuff in X-men, and possibly Edge of Spider-Verse also contributing.

I could see that happening--bringing all the really popular alternate universe characters into the "real" Marvel universe. We've already seen that happen with the Heroes Reborn Bucky and Spider-Man 2099.

I really like Time Runs Out. Is it just me or is Steve's side totally looking bad right now.

The Marvel Universe doesn't need all these altern-characters. It needs a damn Rapture if anything.

I love alternate realities, so I have no problem with a few alternate versions of characters hanging around the 616 universe.

Steve is Ahab and the Illuminati are his white whale. He is a complete fascist *****enozzle in "Time Runs Out." It's pretty sad to see him that way, and it's sadder to see so many Avengers going along with it. This is twice now that Carol's decided to happily jump aboard the fascism express. Kind of getting hard to like her.

I'll admit O didn't read Time Runs Out, but weren't the Iluminati running around destroying entire universes? Doesn't it make sense for Steve to take issue with that?

The Illuminati built weapons and Namor wiped out one alternate Earth, then jumped ship to form the new Cabal, who've been destroying every Earth that brushes up against the main Marvel Earth ever since. But I doubt Cap even knows about that one instance where Namor destroyed an Earth. He's after the Illuminati because he was a member, and when he raised on objection to them starting on the path toward world-destroying weapons, they erased his memory and booted him out. It's a personal vendetta and, worse, he's treating it as the absolute top priority of SHIELD and the Avengers, blinding himself to anything else going on. Yeah, it's certainly reasonable for Steve to want to find the Illuminati, find out what they were doing in secret, and mete out justice for their transgressions, but the way he's going about it in the "Time Runs Out" future shows he's way over the deep end.

What confuses me is that future Franklin warned Steve about going down this path.

I second your annoyance about Carol joining Steve as a fascist. I get that Steve needs some people on his side, but her role her just echoes her unlikability in Civil War. Maybe Emma needs to tell her off again.

It sucks because I think she's great in her solo title.

^That way, we'll welcome the changes to their personalities that'll come with the reboot.

They do mention Marvel doing something they haven't in 75 year, though it may as well be just talk in order to promote more easily and have fans wondering what's going to happen.

I wonder if Marvel wants us to hate the heroes at this point?

thats how im feeling at the moment.

Im know as the happy with everything guy around here, but the last few weeks has really dampened my enthusiasm. There are certain things i love, but the stuff im starting to dislike far out weighs it. I've come to completley resent Steve Rogers, something i have never done.

Im taking a break with most marvel books. i will continue to read thor and daredevil, but as far as trying to piece together and make sense out of an unsolvable puzzle, im done for a while but il be back to see what this summers maddness is all about.

She's basically Han Solo with boobs in her solo title, which is awesome. But Han wouldn't join a fascist army. :csad:

Namor, if your resolve is breaking, then the rest of us are doomed :p

Lol! What started my change of heart is when a non reader asked me to explain what's going on with the avengers and xmen. I got stressed trying to explain it in a way that someone who doesn't read comics would understand. The continuity is where I sat back and really analyzed my true feelings about my books. I figured out that rather than enjoying what I'm reading really was a sence of comfort and nostalgia of reading about charecters I've grown up with. Some of it is actually gripping, but most of it I shrug off. I had to face the music.

My pull list is down to

Daredevil
Amazing spiderman
Thor

Wonder Woman
Superman
Supergirl
Flash
Green lantern
Green arrow
Aquaman
Action comics

Tis a sad day indeed. My good friends at eye opener comics in Connecticut were shocked that I came in and crossed off my 20 marvel comi pull list. I will be back, hopefully by the time the madness of summer summers down and I have confidence in marvel to give me good stories, not just shock value.
