And I imagine the box office earnings would've been just about the same.![]()
No. You. Di'ent.

No, that would be Selena Gomez being cast as Squirrel Girl in a weekly series.
runaways could use more diversity
4 of the 6 leads are white
I'm hoping Palmer will be playing Xavin, because she's not that good of an actress to warrant changing the race of an established character. The way I see it, it's fine to make these changes when it makes sense for the situation (Michael Clarke Duncan was an awesome Kingpin, and considering the only alternatives to changing the character's ethnicity was to have professional wrestlers play the role, then it worked out for the best), but being overly PC is something I think is ridiculous. That whole Danny Glover as Spider-Man thing was strange because there was no reason to change the character's ethnicity, especially considering there are so many African American characters that haven't even been touched, who deserve to get the spotlight before we have to resort to changing races. Between Alex, Nico, Victor, and Xavin, the Runaways are a very diverse group as it is, so I think pushing somebody into a role that isn't perfect for them is an unnecessary move.
Any Squirrel Girl is a good Squirrel Girl, any way you slice it
Agreed.alex = black
nico = asian
victor = hispanic
Xavin = black/alien
molly = white
gert = white
chase = white
karolina = white/ rainbow alien
....
i think that's plenty of culture. and changing race isnt just changing race.. it's changing ethnicity and there cultural bring up.
i agree... and actually.. i wouldn't put it past them to add Xavin in a small role of some sort... they could be planting seeds of Skrulls for avengers anyway... some people feel Agent Coulsen could also be one.

And the bring up of these kids is very crucial to the plot of the series.
She would have to be Xavin. If she's any of the others it will mean Disney is calling the shots and not Marvel and would personify all the fears of the Disney takeover.

The casting call had just the core teen characters though... so no Xavin:
If indeed Keke was cast, her role through the process of elimination would most likely be that of Karolina. Keke doesn't fit the Gertie or Molly descriptions and Marvel has gone on record expressing that they indeed want an asian actress for Nico. Keke could fit the "conventionally beautiful, with an unchecked ego" criteria.
OH NO HE AUDITIONED FOR A ROLE!!!! HOW DAAAAAARE HE!!
![]()
He's Fred. AND?
I'll never understand why for years people continue to FREAK OUT when someone AUDITIONS for a role. It's like... not only do the producers and directors have to cast an amazing actor, but ONLY amazing phenomenal actors are allowed to audition.
An actor goes into an audition and the producers are literally supposed to say NO YOU MAY NOT AUDITION FOR THIS ROLE NOW GTFO!![]()
Yeah, but she still gets to ask, doesn't she?These things are sacred cows, and there are certain people that we feel just have no business even attempting. It's like dating out of your league. We say as fanboys, "why is that fugly trying to ask ME out?"
