Safe haven for those who actually LIKE DC movies

I like all DC movies Superman movies and Batman;especially Batman Begins, which I hardly see any criticism...Theirs a minority of hate for that movie.....But I want to see more movies with more of its characters like GL,Flash,Wonder Woman,etc..they could take time in perfecting those

Dunno why but i've always likes DC comics. Marvel never pleased me for some reason and same goes for the movies.
I found HULK to be very meh , Blade 1 to be excellent , Blade 2 to be okay , Blade 3 was meh ( Reynolds and the CG dracula at the end kicked ass) , Spiderman 1 was good , SPiderman 2 was okay ( too much love story that dragged the movie middepart; i actually fell asleep watching the movie in IMAX !!). Daredevil was meh , Fantastic Four was fun but there were moments where i cringed ( Dr Doom talking and frankly all the "important"scenes with Alba).

Out of all the Marvel movies , i'm mosltly looking forward to Ghost Rider and Spidey 3.

Compare that to DC:
Even before Batman BEgins was announced , i went and bought the important GR.
Same goes for Constantine , cause i was interested in what Keanu would be doing post-matrix. Then i saw a poster and was immediatly sold. Have been buyin ( and stimm am buying) the Hellblazer GR.
I've also liked Visual characters ( which is the main reason why i'm pumped for Ghost Rider and to a lesser extent Venom and Sandman) so that's where my interest in Supes comes from. I mean , it's a guy flying. The last movie where i actually enjoyed a guy flying was MAtrix Reloaded and Revolutions of course ;).

What blows my mind is that people have the nerve to cite Kevin Spacey as something they hate about Superman Returns.
He was ****ing fantastic in that movie: he was in fact the best thing about the movie.

I've seen two common accusations; 1 was that he took the role too seriously (i.e., not enough Hackman) & one that he didn't take it seriously enough.(i.e., too much Hackman)

Mine would be that he phoned in a modest hackman immitation but it's really how he's written that's the bigger problem to me.

I love the Kid though. Best Son of a superhero ever. Chris do me a favor and make a poll of all the superhero kids we know of. I can think of the zorro kid and the incredibles kids... maybe the sky high kids...

Haven't seen SR, actually, & I can't think of a single kid I liked in a comic book movie.

I thought Spacey was fine. Any more Hackman and he would've blown it. I agree that the real problem was what was written for him.

Like calling Superman a "selfish being who doesn't share his power"?

lol yup.. the complaints are both at the same time. Why? What I feel:

A) The comic luthor is nowhere near the classic luthor from the 1978 film, this accounts for the "too much Hackman". Singer homaged 78, but he did give his own spin:

B) This lex luthor was a bit more serious about himself and his plans and less silly. I got the impression of illegitimate businessman who stumbled upon alien technology this time. So thats where the "not enough Hackman" comes from, and the comments about him being wooden or boring in comparison to Hackman. From that mindset folks have of "more is more" from the 78 one, of course folks will think the more real style is wooden, they are the ones who always call it boring. 1+1=2.

Oh and Wesyeed, be sure to post negativity outside of here. Just a reminder. Youre fine so far, dont go overboard.

 not even THE KID, from Dick Tracy?

lol Dick Tracy reminds me of 89s batman for some reason. Gritty, but still one foot in caricature hehe

What I wish they would have done with SR Luthor is model him after STAS. When I think of Lex Luthor, that is what I think of (maybe because it was my first exposure to Luthor). I still did like Spacey's Luthor though.

I've felt that way since the animated series aired. I see Michael Rosenbaum evolving into that incarnation & I've always considered that the definitive Lex Luthor.

I agree, Luthor from STAS or JLU is for me the definitive Luthor. He's a perfect meld of Businessman and Supervillain. And in neither incarnation is he some gold-digging buffoon with a Kryptonite Shiv.

I liked the scene where Supes caught the 777, that was cool...

*whispers* just about the only decent part of the movie... *

Maybe in the next movie he'll be running Lexcorp and will be closer to that.

I really feel that DC is making better movies than Marvel right now, and this is coming from a lifelong Marvel fan. BB, SR and V are, IMO, the smartest, most well-crafted comic book movies since the first two X-Men films. Marvel's been very hit-or-miss in the last couple years and have been spitting out a new film every 6 months, whereas DC seems to be taking its time and delivering much deeper and crafted films. I really get strong feeling of a DC Universe from BB and SR; it really seems that these two heroes had their public images fleshed out and explained in a way that makes me feel like they could exist in the same world.

Now this is a post i totally agree with, SR, BB and V4V have all wiped the floor with every Marvel movie since Spidey 2, and some before that as well. See in my sig those 3 movies all make my top ten of CB movies, and i think SR is VASTLY underrated.

I've run across a lot of posts bashing V For Vendetta; many from people who think it should've taken the "Sin City" approach & adapted the comic directly, word for word. I disagree wholeheartedly.

Here's a whacky idea; how about we try NOT turning this into yet another Marvel vs. DC thread?

I still love Batman89

It's such a cool movie.

Same here.

Keaton was awesome. And Nicholson was great. Despite the film's flaws, it's probably still the Batman movie for alot of people.

they need to change supermans outfit back to blue and red... not maroon and shiny blue. for the next superman movie they should have christopher reeves son play the role!!!!
