Saimis infamous Quote: its all about the costumes...

I don't mind the GG from the movie. I also like the Doc Ock from the second one. They look more believable than the one's in the comics.

this looks like it would work quite well in a movie.

That image is way too animated. Its no more different then whats on a comic book page. They could have gone batman on gg's suit(aka just making the spandex a neoprene then well spandex).

To be honest, I'm not much of a Venom/Symbiote fan anymore. But I admit that the character has excellent potential if represented right. I liked Ultimate Spider-man's Venom, with and without the Spider, but he sort of looks like some kind of strange dinosaur in some pictures. But he looked excellent, especially being amorphous and having more tendrils. It'd look great on screen if done right. I think that if they can do Venom correctly, he can be borderline frightening. CG is absolutely the way to go here. I'd imagine I'd be pretty damn scared if I saw something like that in real life. In Resident Evil 4, the regenerators looked pretty damn realistic, and when I first saw them, with the psychotic smile and razor-sharp teeth, they gave me the biggest freak-out I got playing thatg game. I think Venom could have the same effect. Especially if he's introduced in a dark environment and made to look powerful and imposing.

When I first saw that Dafoe was playing Goblin and they had that picture of him smiling (that scary smile of his), I thought, "Oh *****, he looks just like the Goblin! I can't wait to see him in green makeup!!" Then I saw the helmet and thought I was going to croak.

I hated the Goblin costume in SM1. Hated it. And I cringe when I see it today. But, as far as practicallity goes, yeah, it makes sense. Doc Ocks arms were very practical and made sense. I missed his bowl cut and Elton John glasses but I guess that would look goofy too. Not as goofy as a man in tights and a holloween mask flying around throwing pumkins at people, but goofy enough. Haha, could you imagine them trying to do those huge eyes?

I guess if they had designed it better or made it more agile-looking (it looks so uncomfortable), I'd be more cool with it. There were some really nice lookin' designs out there for the suit. They could've made the helmet cover the top part of his head with a similar yellow eye/goggle thing going on, but leave his jaw and especially mouth open for us to see that evil grin. But we got this monochrome, spraypainted, looking thing (I'm refraining from comparing it to costumes from a certain former FOX Saturday morning TV show).

So, if it is all about the costumes, I hope they do a much better job this time around. I understand that some costumes simply don't transition well to film or real life but I think, especially after seeing Batman Begins, its possible to pay respect to the original costume.

Oh, and don't forget that Arad said they're saving the White Spider for something else...

Ok, just my two cents but...

Absolutely not.

Knowing full and well that Goblin's costume from SM1 was about practicality I looked at it from that point-of-view and ended up liking it. There's a reason why it looks that way. Had they not had a reason I probably wouldn't have liked it.

Of course, back during SM1, I was in the "people who boycott the SM movie over organic webbing are idiots" camp.

It might be practical but I still would have prefferred a more raggy version of GG. Just give him a hood and some torn up clothes and whenever the gg personality took over they could have done some green veines on his face and hands.
I also don't see how a respectable research company would create a helmet modeled after a scary face. That didn't make any sense to me.

Doc Oc's look was perfect for me, the only thing they should not have done was have the tentacles make sounds, that was ******ed.

as for venom, I just hope he has the spider emblem, got the teeth and eyes and a little bulk and I'm fine. Don't mess with his design too much pretty please.

The face mask portion of the helmet design wasn't created by the company. Norman used the African spirit masks in his home as the basis for the face.

I think that if he had covered his suit in torn up rags it would've looked perfect, but overall I was happy with the first G1 costume.

If Venom ends up looking somewhat like the Thing from Fantastic Four(The movie was great and all :) they just should have used CGI on the thing, IMO)
....I don't know what I'd do...?!

But Alfred Molina as Doc Ock Rocks all!!

The GG suit in the first movie was not bad at all. Actually was suprised because in ways they stayed towards the original feel of what GG is all about.
