Iron Man Sam Jackson is Nick Fury

you beat me to it. this is the best thing i've ever heard involving a marvel movie. i just hope they take sam into the avengers movie also.

No ****ing way. For serious?? AICN though...I hate hearing stuff from them first. :( Must be small though Jackson has a full schedule as it is.

If it's true,
they are definitely preparing the groung for the Avengers movie, which will look like the Utlimates
(keeping in mind that the Ultimates were visually design to be put to screen by famous actors....Ultimate verse being there to create a new audience that doesn't want to have to read back 35 years of continuity, and by magic/chance [or smart business decision :cwink:], it appears that comic are becomming popular on screen... So big man with big cigar saying:"let's attract the new readers with familiar-like faces, so when movie opportunity is there, people will go and see super-people they know and recognize)
That was for the background story lol:woot:

Now, if True, Great news and another Cool factor for Iron Man:heart:

Its very cool if true, I'll look forward to confimation one way or the other, but if true thats awesome.
The funny thing about it is, that in a interview Jackson did before Robert Downey was cast as Tony Stark, Samual said he want to play either Tony Stark or Nick Fury, now he'll play Nick Fury in Iron Man.

Yeah the ultimates version is pretty much based on Samuel L Jackson so this is spot on casting unless you don't like the Ultimates version.

I was hoping they would save Shield for the sequel.

But as long as they remain in the background and out of the way I guess it will be cool.

Excellent news. Considering Favreau is friends with the guys at AICN and they were the ones that broke the RDJ news, this is highly likely to be true.

Samuel L. Jackson Wants to be Nick Fury

The Ultimate Avengers dream of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s ramrod director may come true.

Snakes on a Plane star Samuel L. Jackson told MTV he wants to star in a super-hero film, Nick Fury in particular.

The Ultimates comic book and animated DVDs drew on Jackson for inspiration for their depiction of the S.H.I.E.L.D. commander.

"I see [Marvel movie producer] Avi Arad a lot, because we live in the same neighborhood," Jackson said. "I express my interest in [working with him]. I always wanted to be Iron Man, because he was always like the rich dude who created this whole thing. He's not really kept as a superhero, he just creates stuff to make himself a superhero as a rich guy."

Although Iron Man's probably not in the cards, "Nick Fury would be great," Jackson said. "I've been reading Nick Fury since when I was a kid. I collect comics. ... I'm kind of geeky."

Marvel Studios' Nick Fury will be written by Andrew Marlowe ("Air Force One," "Hollow Man," "End of Days") and will be distributed by Paramount.

Another way of creating a universe, through a spin-off

according to wikipedia Jackson gave Marvel the consent to use his likeness.

This is awesome news. Not just that Sam Jackson is playing him, that much was predictable, but the cool part is that he's going to be having guest appearances in other films. I wonder if he'll have a cameo in the Incredible Hulk too.

haha!

Jackson admits to collecting comics. Another celebrity fanboy comes out of the closet.

Yeah that would be awesome.

Seeing Nick Fury in Iron Man then a few weeks later seeing him show up in Hulk. :woot:

Well I think that is one of the great things about Samuel L. He seems like a very cool and open guy when it comes to doing various things so it is very possible he would do that. And I always thought he was in his late 40's but just realized he was pushing 60.

Are you serious? That's crazy. Samuel L. Jackson is as old as my dad.:o

While I never read The Ultimates comics after issue #1 the New Nick Fury was commanding, and intelligent but was missing something. The original Nick Fury was created as a World War II character and leader of the Howling Commando's. They all took a super soldier serum off shoot, were placed into cyrogenics and re awakened to form S.H.I.E.L.D in the 1970's. That Nick Fury was a hands on Colonel. General Nick seems to stay on the Heli-Carrier and have his #1 Black Widow perform the field work. I do not know if this was just in The Ultimate Avengers DTV's but I prefer the original Nick Fury. I also prefer his original crew of Val and Dum Dum Dugan.

My Nick Fury would be Sean Bean. Dum Dum would be Sean Astin, and Val would be played by Jessica Biel, and G.W. Bridge would be Sam Jackson.

just because sam jackson is playing doesn't mean we can't have fragments of the old-school Nick Fury too...and I expect Dum Dum to be in his spin-off movie.

wow - I LOVE where this is going...
