Maybe one day.

Phase Four. Let's hope so! :cwink:

So far Natasha has played prominent roles in MCU and Lucy’s success (and probably Ghost in the Shell) proved that Scarjo can carry an action movie on her own.

Yes, she must have a lot of combined minutes across all the films by now. Very much part of the infrastructure of the MCU. Hopefully she gets something, and I wouldn't mind if Hawkeye was involved too. Lucy can only have helped their case.

Black Widow imo doesn't need her own movie. She works best and has proven herself to be a highly functioning supporting character. The closest we'll get to her having her own film was Cap 2: Winter Soldier, where she was essentially co-lead. The MCU needs to focus on telling stories on recently new additions as well as introducing and developing new characters. Black Widow has been in 5 movies and by next summer she would have filmed her 7th. At this point I think a solo film for her is not needed and quite frankly it would be a waste of time; but Marvel obviously will decide if she does indeed get one or not.

I'd argue that the only film that she's ever had a consequential arc or character development (i.e. a change in worldview) in was TWS and *maybe* CW.

Scarlett's star power is second only to RDJ's among Marvel actors - anyone with an interest in making money would be crazy not to capitalize on that. The MCU will want to keep some kind of continuing thread from Phases 1-3 going into Phase 4, and Widow is a good candidate for that since her story hasn't been fully told yet. Having a film that requires little CGI and is more human-level (Dark Knight anyone?) would be a good change of pace after IW.

Very good points. The ship has probably sailed as it does seem rather late to now give her a solo, bc if done it wouldnt be out till at least 2019/2020 at this point

they do capitalize on that... by featuring her time and time again in these films. Its not like she's going unused. By Phase 4, I honestly think Id be more interested in the newer characters and "phase" some of the older ones out (no pun intended)

So she wants a film and has ideas. This isn't anything new, even considering Feige has said that there are apparently plans for one in a later phase.

Realistically speaking, Marvel and Johansson already know whether there's a Widow film forthcoming in Phase 4.

They're not going to admit or hint to anything until at least the first Infinity War film is done.

I just really don't want them to show her whole back story. It's better that we get pieces but not the whole thing. I wouldn't mind her taking on the BW program (or what remains of it) in the present with more glimpses into the past though.

Agreed.

I don't believe Scarjo is throwing words to the wind.

The same reasons she gets the big roles in Cap movies are the same ones she won't get her own movie, at least not one very similar to what her fans imagine.

It's still ridiculous to me that Marvel never jumped on making a BW solo. She is the first lady of the MCU now. Its such a no brainer.

It is such a sorry state that the "first lady" could be someone who never got their own movie. But keeping the gender representation out of it, no, it isn't really. Not any more than the same being the case with Hawkeye.

Captain Marvel is going to be the "first lady" of the MCU going forward.

Well considering how many male movies we have compared to female, no way to keep gender representation out of it. We are so deep into this verse it is ridiculous, especially when the character has proven herself.

I don't think there's really any proving it, or that there should be. Captain Marvel is coming, and hopefully it'll be just the first of plenty more female lead movie.

The implication that there needs to be a BW movie to right the gender representation disparity is silly (if that's what you're going for), though.
